Florida Substitute Teacher Fired, Accused of Wizardry

A Florida teacher may have to pull an unemployment check out of his hat after performing magic in front of students, according to reports.

Jim Piculas said he made a toothpick disappear and reappear in front of students at the Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes, Fla., Local6.com reported. He said he later got a call from the supervisor of teachers, saying he had been accused of wizardry.

"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue. You can't take any more assignments. You need to come in right away,'" he told Local6.com.

Piculas said he’s concerned the incident may prevent him from being considered for future jobs

FUCKING WIZARDRY? is this a crime?

I wonder if they have banned "To Kill a Mockingbird" from every liberal state due to it's "racist message"...

(Hint for liberals: the story is pointedly against racism).

Here are a list of places that banned the book. Most of them for the very reason the book was written. It was a pointed attack on racism, not a promotion of it.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, by Harper Lee.
Considered "dangerous" because of profanity and undermining of race relations.
Challenged (temporaily banned) in Eden Valley, Minnesota, 1977;
Vernon-Verona-Sherill, New York, School District, 1980;
Warren, Indiana, township schools, 1981;
Waukegan, Illinois, School District, 1984;
Kansas City, Missouri, junior high schools, 1985;
Park Hill (Missouri) Junior High School, 1985.
Protested by black parents and NAACP in Casa Grande (Arizona)
Elementary School District, 1985.

LOL.

BS. In almost every case where To Kill a Mockingbird was banned it was from the libraries of schools in liberal cities.

Also, two words... "Tipper Gore".
Banning books is Inherintly NOT LIBERAL. Anyone that does it is not by very definition liberal. You want to see what LIBERALS think about banning books I would suggest you visit the ACLU homepage. Censorship is reactionary by it's very nature. Because there are people that are democrats that support censoship does not make it liberal. Just as the fact that democrats traditionally supported segregation does NOT make it a Liberal position.

Waah.

I think you are confusing liberal with libertarian. Many people do this nowadays.

the ACLU and People for the American Way are both liberal organizations go to their websites and then link me to their pages where they endorse censorship. If you would like you and I could take a week and find examples of censorship and book burning and then compare notes on the organizations that endorse it. If you can come up with HALF the number of Liberal groups that either endorse censorship or actively destroy books and videos you win

Yep. Good call. People now just use the small l libertarian thought processes to describe what their label means.

But all the cool people know they're right. And socrtease...... is not "cool". :D

Get back to me whenever they start attacking it in San Fransisco.

*Yawn*

Again, you are confusing libertarian with liberal.

Libertarianism was something a guy who lived on a rock in Arkansas came up with in the 50's because he was concerned small l liberals didn't care enough about guns and "economic rights". Surprisingly, that's all libertarians care about now...

Im with Soc. Banning books is the antithesis of liberal ideas. If some asshole who called themselves a liberal tried to ban a book then they are just being an asshole and not acting in a liberal manner.

Again, you confuse the difference between "progressive" and libertarian ideas.
