An American made lighter sells for $25. All of that money stays in this country.
A Chinese copy sells for $20.
$5 goes to the guy who sells it,
$15 goes back to China.

Let's say Trump puts on a 50% tariff on Chinese goods.
Now that Chinese lighter sells for $30.
The American lighter is now cheaper than the Chinese one and every bit of the $$$ stays in this country.
The demand for production increases so the manufacturer may have to hire more people.

People have to decide if the bulk of their daily needs should be made in America or made in China AND, God forbid we ever have need to go to war with China, where do they want their essentials to be made?
