I don't agree. He did that with Chris Wallace when he jumped in on team Biden in 2020 - and it didn't serve Trump well.

Axios ran a story yesterday that if Biden fucks up tonight, the party is pulling him and putting in Michelle Obama.

Policy wise that makes no difference - Barack Obama is running things either way.

The Obama team set the debate rules to be so absurdly against Trump that they were sure he would refuse, letting Biden off the hook without taking a hit and possibly hurting Trump.

Trump called their bluff. Even in an openly rigged debate, Trump has the facts and Biden's disastrous record on his side.
