'No Easy Day,' Bin Laden Raid Book: Osama Was Unarmed

NEW YORK -- The much-anticipated firsthand account of the Navy SEALs raid that killed Osama bin Laden reveals the terrorist leader was unarmed and was already dead with a bullet to the brain when the SEALs entered his bedroom in the compound at Abbottabad, Pakistan.

As the SEALS ascended a narrow staircase, the team's point man saw a man poke his head from a doorway, wrote a SEAL using the pseudonym Mark Owen (whose real identity has since been revealed by Fox News) in “No Easy Day,” a copy of which was obtained at a bookstore by The Huffington Post.

"We were less than five steps from getting to the top when I heard suppressed shots. BOP. BOP," writes Owen. "I couldn't tell from my position if the rounds hit the target or not. The man disappeared into the dark room."

Team members took their time entering the room, where they saw the women wailing over Bin Laden, who wore a white sleeveless T-shirt, loose tan pants and a tan tunic, according to the book.

Despite numerous reports that bin Laden had a weapon and resisted when Navy SEALs entered the room, he was unarmed, writes Owen. He had been fatally wounded before they had entered the room.

"Blood and brains spilled out of the side of his skull” and he was still twitching and convulsing, Owen writes. While bin Laden was in his death throes, Owen writes that he and another SEAL "trained our lasers on his chest and fired several rounds. The bullets tore into him, slamming his body into the floor until he was motionless."

Then the SEALS repeatedly examined his face to make sure he was truly bin Laden. They interrogated a young girl and one of the women who had been wailing over Bin Laden’s body, who verified that it was the terror leader.

A cynic might suggest that this is a great way to make a lot of money. On the other hand who would you rather believe? A guy who MIGHT be telling the truth or a government that probably was not?
This book has been waited for since the old bugger's corpse was dumped in the sea.
 
I'm just glad to see him dead. I do wish some of the Seals would stop being so openly political toward Obama. When I criticize him, I do not want my views to reflect upon the WA Air National Guard, the AF, or NORAD. Also, I try not to hound the president or to be obnoxious. I'm probably much more critical of Bush now than I was when he was still my boss, and I think that's appropriate.

he seems a bit prejudiced against obama and more interested in promoting his book

does anyone know if he is a part of the group of former military swift boating obama?

in any case his career in the military is over

He can be opinionated against obama if he likes. Lord knows there are enough anti-bush vets out there. They paid in blood, let them say what they want about the guy who is ultimately responsible for sending them out in harms way.

ultimately responsible, who bush or obama

a lot more were killed in afghanistan and iraq during shrub's watch than obama's and obama shut down the iraq war and is winding down the afghan war, although not soon enough for my liking

still, if someone is ex-military or not in uniform, they have the same free speech rights as the rest of us

"winding down" interesting how that took four years, after bush left office, and we're not even done yet. Obama is hardly a peacemaker, he's been carrying on drone terrorism with Pakistan(our theoretical ally) bombing Libya, making threats against Iran and taking a small eternity to get out of Afghanistan. His claim to fame is taking out bin laden(who was in neither Afghanistan, Libya or Iraq) and killing thousands just to be sure he got the right guy.

For some perspective please look at the threads about the NY shooting and the attacks on cops who wounded 9 bystanders trying to stop an active shooter. Obama was killing people who weren't even on the same continent. That's some collateral damage there.

first, as for pakistan, pakistan has been both unwilling and unable to police its own country and as such has allowed nato enemies to use pakistan's territory to stage attacks on nato personnel

second, no us military have been injured in either libya or iran + any action against iran would not be comprised of troops invading iran

third, what does the ny shooting have to do with obama

fourth, i have already said that i would like to see our troops removed from afghanistan as soon as physically possible

fifth, please provide a cite for the 'thousands' of innocents killed by the us and nato and a more precise number other than 'thousands' which can range from over 1000 to under 1 million or if you prefer under 10,000

Does anyone see the glaring contradiction of this report? OBL was all ready dead and in his death throws with his brains blown out but they shot him in the chest anyways which slamed him to the ground?
 
That bin Ladin was shot before we could capture him makes perfect sense. I wouldn't doubt that everyone one around him, the women included, were given instructions that he not be captured alive. If he is the mastermind the propaganda claims, his capture could have ruined too many plans.

DUH! He was a Millionaire and highered a sniper to shoot him from across the street. ROTFLOL!!! This Story is as much Bullshit as the official one the pentagon gave us. Osama Bin Laden is somewhere living a life of luxury with the rest his Free Mason clan members.

I really find it odd that a group of Navy seals died in a plane crash a few days later. Probably the ones that truly knew what was going on.
