Jamal Khashoggi : Should Trump complete US arms sale to Saudi's?

k #16

Yeah, not my favorite target of study. And I've not been paying too much attention due to the upcoming mid-terms. National and international politics occupy much of my attention. But for this vote I'm paying attention to local issues and candidates. It's a temporary distraction.
"And they didn’t ‘cut him up while he was alive’ that’s impossible. He was killed then dismembered." DO #17
A challenge for one person I agree.
But the reports I've read indicate they had about a dozen thugs on this job.
And some of those reports indicate the live dismemberment was so grusome the murderers played music to drown out Khashoggi's screams.
"But the point is it makes no sense to involve 15 people in an assassination when it only takes one to do the job." DO

"They could have easily made it look like a murder-robbery.
Makes no sense." DO
Not to you and me.
But the house of Saud was not merely trying to silence critics the way Putin does, as you describe.

The Saudis were sending a message to their critics.
I think that message has been received.

I think the most important question today is- Do we want to continue to reward bad behavior?

For every ultimatum facing us today, and before I answer any political question asked of me, I have to answer the more important question first!

Because my answer is NO! I do not believe in rewarding bad behavior. We have to be honest with our children. Otherwise, we will never be able to expect them to be honest with us or even be honest with themselves.

So, the right question is do we want to reward Saudi Arabia for their bad behavior- in this case, brutally torturing a Journalist to death, and covering it up because they wanted to kill the messenger because the Saudi's didn't like the message of truth he was sending.

If we don't stand up for protecting the lives of the innocent and protecting the people's right to express their opinions in other countries, and allow people to be killed for expressing their opinions, we will soon be witness to the same thing happening right here in our own country.

So this is a test of what we want for ourselves right here in America!

So, while visiting the voter's booth, just ask yourself, "Do you really want to reward bad behavior"? Because this tipping point is just where we are at!
trump isn't that far away.

To the question in the OP, I think another tax cut for the wealthy is in order, while we decide what to do about the best customer trump Tower D.C has.

It doesn’t matter how many people were there. You can only cut fingers off of a live individual. The first arm that comes off will cause the victim to lose blood perfusion to the brain and they will become unconscious. Then the blood pressure bottoms out and they will soon be dead. No matter what the media is reporting, it didn’t happen that way.

In most cases, yes. As we ignore their heinous treatment of women.

Women rule the roost in Arabia.. They make up 67% of university students, control the money and have more business licenses than men. They also write their own marriage contracts.

Colin Powell once said that sometimes you have to shake hands with some real pigs. Saudi Arabia, for some reason, is the head MFer what’s in charge of Islam. They are on good terms with Israel ATM, and damn near at war with Iran. American jobs are not the only thing at stake here, and the American left is ALWAYS wanting to stop us from interfering with how other country’s do business. This is one time they should heed their own advice. Not to mention you lefties aren’t even taking cultural norms into consideration. Chastising Saudi Arabia for this is like yelling at a hyena because it killed a gazelle. Chances are, it’s not going to understand or care why you are yelling at it

Jamal Khashoggi : Should Trump complete US arms sale to Saudi's?

President Trump is right.
Withdrawing from the U.S. arms sale to Saudi Arabia would hurt U.S. business & labor.

Senate foreign relations committee member Rand Paul (R-KY) is also correct that if we do not punish this hideous crime, we can expect more of the same for a generation.

Which is more important to the U.S.?
- Business as usual? Or

- our enduring principles of not dismembering U.S. journalists for promoting issues frowned upon by the Saudi royal family?

Should Trump withdraw the U.S. from the $multi-$billion $dollar Saudi arms deal?

I think the most important thing would be to wait for ALL of the facts instead of erupting like a bunch of dumbasses. Congress critters should do the same. They look moronic when they jump to conclusion only to find out later they were wrong.

KSA has been a solid ally for 60 years.. and have provided excellent intelligence for the US for the past 30.

good lord. I realize the murder was gruesome, but the generalized Saudi bashing ( saudi gov't had nothing to do with 9-11) completely misses the geo-politics of the region.. I submit that Iran is the true malign power, with forces scattered all over Syria,Lebanon, and have virtually colonized Iraq. They are as bad as Chinia is in the South China sea ( hegemons)..and don't forget our special relationship goes back to 1932 and FDR

Trump is an immoral asshole . He probably doesn't know- or care- what the weapons intended for the degenerate Saudis are for.

No- America should not sell weapons to brutal murderers- but that was yesterday's America. Now the White House is gang headquarters.

The US once owned the arms manufacturing base in that its factories and shipyards produced materials for the US military.
Private arms companies have corrupted that policy so that legislation to sell to foreign powers is a given.
The ' Nixon Doctrine' opened the floodgates of arms sales to the world- and so today the US is largely responsible for arming both sides of any conflict for wars which it sometimes starts itself.
War is for jobs, right Don ?

There is NO evidence that the Saudi Government is a bad actor in this. Why not wait for the evidence?
