The name of USS John S. McCain was not obscured during the POTUS visit to Yokosuka on Memorial Day. The Navy is proud of that ship, its crew, its namesake and its heritage.

That photo is not from the day of the POTUS visit (Monday in Japan, Sunday in US), as the WSJ report itself mentions.

When was that photo taken then?

Oh the corruption of the Republican party runs deep and runs right over into the Military! It has for many years.
It's basically a stranglehold of officer level elites in the military that started to surface back during the days when rapes and forced gang-bangs of women recruits went unreported and were being covered up, and whose women victims were being laughed at in Military courts.

Ironic, but McCain at one time was part of this Republican Officer Military Elite and as Senator used to vote against gays, women, and minorities being in the military.

However, he softened through the years and had a change of heart and started voting in favor of gays, women, and minorities in the military in the new century.

What can I say, what goes around, comes around I guess. Or basically, Republicans are just assholes and troublemakers. <-----that's a period right there!

Your ignorance is astounding. Please, tell me all about how a ships maintenance is performed. Be precise. You obviously mental fucking midget.

Speaking of maintenance, gotta question for you Sailor.
Here's the set up....................

The USS John McCain has been at Yokosuka Naval Base for repairs since the collision with a merchant ship.
USS John S. McCain Leaves Dry Dock, Continues Repairs in Yokosuka
Story Number: NNS181127-15Release Date: 11/27/2018 8:31:00 PM
John S. McCain is forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan as part of the U.S. Seventh Fleet. The ship is expected to complete
repairs in late 2019. (full article of maintenance performed at https://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=107922

Northern Kantō, Japanese Kita-kantō, industrial region, east-central Japan.
The region’s industries include the manufacture of electrical machinery, metal products, and transport equipment.
Also, precision machinery, diesel engines, trucks, buses, motor vehicles, electrical appliances and textiles.

The 1st photo on this link shows the Kanto No (north) vessel behind the McCain on Feb. 19, 2019. (2nd ship in with American flag)

And, here's the Gawker photo the press is using with the tarp hanging over the stern along with the Kanto No vessel
behind the turquoise vessel in the foreground also Feb.19, 2019.

That equipment on the deck looks like sand/grit blasting type of stuff. If it is then it would make sense that a tarp might
be lowered if they're working on the stern
, maybe getting it ready to paint on a fresh name? I mean if there was any
wind blowing (flag and pennant on halyard are blowing) this would help keep the particles from flying around.

Then again, might removing waste water.

Whatcha think?

And, again the U.S. Navy's Chief of Information - Rear Adm. Charles Brown has said that the picture used in the media lately was an old one.

As I said, did you see where the Toadstool admitted that it happened, but "it's not my fault"?

It is not clear, in any event, if Mr. Trump even saw the McCain during his brief visit. He arrived in Yokosuka on Marine One, and addressed the sailors in a hangar bay below decks on the Wasp.
Mr. Trump said he would not have ordered the ship to be hidden.

President Donald Trump said Thursday he had nothing to with directing the U.S. Navy to keep a warship named for the late Sen. John McCain out of sight during his visit to Japan this week.

Speaking to reporters as he left the White House, Trump acknowledged that he “was not a big fan” of the late senator “in any way, shape or form,” but said: “I would never do a thing like that.”
https://www.detroitnews.com/story/n...house-wanted-mccain-ship-away-trump/39528355/

Trump reacted to the story on Wednesday night by tweeting: "I was not informed about anything having to do with the Navy Ship USS John S. McCain during my recent visit to Japan. Nevertheless, @FLOTUS and I loved being with our great Military Men and Women - what a spectacular job they do!"

WSJ & WaPo probably bought it from Gawker (named in the background info on the picture)
who is now owned by Gizmodo Media Group who is a subsidiary of Univision Communications' Fusion Media Group

why would the name need to be covered for repairs?

It had a collision, remember? If they were sand blasting the paint job to put fresh name on the stern, the guys would be
working under the tarp with masks on and the tarp would keep the particles from blowing all over the place.

“If” they were? Were they?

Go ahead and cite that for me, will you?

I looked at the dozens of photos on your Google reference and found none with the tarp.

Already did.............go google and research the photo info yourself if you even know how.

Nope, you didn’t. You gave a Google reference to a ton of photos. That one wasn’t in there.

Your own fault. You need to research the actual photo. Do your own homework.
The info is there, you just have to know how to proceed deeper past the link itself.

Nope, you made the claim. Prove it.

Then, while you’re at it, prove they were sandblasting.

More of his patented whining. A real leader would have said "I had no knowledge of this before the story broke, but I will get to the bottom and find out who was responsible" instead of his more typical pouting posturing.

The story was broken by the WSJ. You know, the rag owned by the same ultra-far-right Murdoch who owns your talking points factory, Fox.

I know, I laughed when the Toadstool said that, too.
What does it say about a man who is so threatened by a dead guy that his staff feels the need to even do this? It is another case of the happy folder and not talking about Russia so as to not set Trump into a hissy fit. Childish
