Liberals versus Flat Screen TVs

I don't see it as weird at all, litigation punishes the guilty, legislation punishes all.

I wish that if Liberals were going to go the legislative route that they would at least then control the litigation more, so business isn't double-hammered as most countries this is not the case.

Legislation is the most inefficient way to punish wrongdoers imaginable. And plus, it only works AFTER the fact. With regulation, it doesn't happen in the first place.

Just like in the movie "Thankyou for smoking", the kid asks the dad "What's the greatest thing about America?" and, without a beat, he responds "Our endless appeals process."

Hence Glibertarianism.

I assume you meant litigation and you are even more wrong than usual, it is incredibly efficient because the mere THREAT of litigation action is enough to deter businesses and people from acting improperly. Thus it gets results without even costing a thing - can't get more efficient than that.

You would know this had you ever really gone out and worked.
As one example, right after a single e-coli incident in a Jack in the box in 1993, afterwords McDonalds on their own instituted beef integrity testing as a means of ensuring beef is being cooked properly to avoid the fallout of bad publicity and lawsuits should it happen to them.

Damo, you should consider getting rid of emoticons, despite the fact that doing so would shut up about half of the dumbass conservos on this board, I think it would raise the level of debate from shit to crap.

And further regulation.

Flat screen TV are energy hogs. The big plasma ones can draw many times the current of a conventional CRT TV.

In CA I think I read TV's account for nearly 10% of home electrical use.
Buy energy star electronics :clink:

That's one of the reasons we haven't upgraded. I must be the only person in American without a flat screen TV.

Yeah, I know but I lump it all into the same category. Not really upset about the converter boxes but am upset about change in the physical configuration of the TV so that my entertainment center has become obsolete.

Yes.....you don't need one...just hang that puppy on the wall and buy a wireless surround sound system.....far out man!
