Going by what ive seen ( and again see my sig) that tiny fraction is very representative of Democrats.

I dont consider any American an "enemy" -even the Civil War soldiers from the CSA
But i dont think political accommodation is possible anymore either.

I doesn't make me happy to say that; but it is what it is

The last three elections I voted GREEN PARTY, & a few others times before that....

There are more independents in Calif than Repubs & increasing......

Thanks to trump the dems got a bunch of newbies but if not for that, they would not be much more than the indies....

Ppl can think for themselves, that does not imply they do it-it's easier to just let someone else tell you what to think & there are plenty out there making a good living doing just that.

There are lots of distractions preventing ppl from immersing themselves in events & politics.. That can change.

What can't change easily, is our system & it's dissociation from "Joe public".......

I vote 3rd party, in part, to make my dissatisfaction w/ the two parties evident & hopefully one day there will be other alternatives to the two party hegemony for all....

It's not united regardless of whichever label was smacked on it at another time. So as I said YOU are free to unite with the anti-Americans who are destroying the very foundation of the Democracy the grand experiment was built upon. Rage is an emotion, I don't think it changes based on location :dunno:

But I imagine a nice warm sunny beach in Hawaii could have a calming effect. :)

I have voted Green many times. And I always felt like I was throwing away my vote.

The Green Party needs to do some serious campaigning and convince more people to get on board. I'll be right there if that happens. Until then, I am making my vote count.

Real life means playing the hand you are dealt, not wishing for some pretend hand you would like to play.

I am an American. I am staying an American. This is my country, the whole thing, all 50 States. I hope you are not under some naive assumption that if you break up the country that either one will be called America. I like being an American. I don't want to be a citizen of some as of yet unnamed smaller less powerful country.

The left and the right cannot agree on much of anything at all right now. There is no way on Earth they are going to be able to come up with some amicable agreement to split everything that America owns up.

We can't even agree on a workable budget that doesn't depend on deficit spending. How in the world are we going to agree on which side gets what assets?

The very thought is absurd.

There is no way everybody is going to be happy and satisfied with any kind of break-up.

It is a recipe for disaster.

It is overly simplistic to think it would work out.

You might as well get used to forgetting the whole idea right now. It has a zero chance of working.

Everybody wants the whole country. They are not going to be satisfied with half. It won't work.

First good brother, it is incredibly naive to believe right wing republicans want any part in unifying the country. They are traitors and their goal is to see this country go down and crash and burn. That’s obvious.

Additionally, I also spent several years not only voting for Greens, but I was also a County Chair. I, like you, was wasting my vote. The Green Party doesn’t even have a proper infrastructure and no funding. It cannot be saved because it’s not a serious party. Like the two party trap between evil and lesser evil or not, I had to decide if I wanted my vote to count of if I wanted to pretend it counted. I’ve decided to work within the system to change the course of lesser evil. That’s all you can do.

Very true, they need to do much more, not just show up a year before the election & start playing politics-but that is part of how our system is rigged against others participating.. It our spoils system~winner take all they are always left out-in the real democracies even if you do not win the big enchilada, you will still be able to participate..

I actually feel the opposite, I feel my vote/voice carries more impact rather than just another hoof in the herd.

In 2016 Jill Stein got over 50,000 votes in Calif..

How many don't even bother to vote?? Usually in most elections more folks are interested in neither & don't vote, then the total of either candidate..:|

I am, & have always been for a more democratic system, like in the rest of the civilized world..

Take a lil country like Japan or Israel...... Israel has the population about the size of NYC & they have multiple choices to choose from in their elections..

WE HAVE FAR FAR MORE PPL & FAR FAR FEWER CHOICES/OPTIONS...... Something is wrong w/ that....

This system works for a few, as it was designed to, the rest of us are mere guests & spectators for the most part:|
