The Republican positions have all been dealt with by the American electorate. you got kicked out of the house you got kicked out of the Senate and you got kicked out of the White House. You need to go on retreat somewhere and figure out why you guys are such losers.
Hello Jarod,
I did not give this OP a 'Thanks' because true forgiveness doesn't come with conditions.
Hello CASPER,
I also want nothing to do with people whose only purpose here seems to be to unload on liberals in a very nasty way. Had my fill of that years ago. And it really just gets sad and boring. What a total downer.
But I still wish them well. I hold no animus. No, I don't want anything bad to happen to them or anyone. I instead wish they would wise up and open their eyes and learn how to relate to others with whom they may disagree in a more positive way. That would really be the best thing for America.
The interesting thing is that this notion of wishing well to one's adversaries is usually seen as a Christian value, (although many self-proclaimed Christians never seem to grasp the concept,) but to me as a non-Christian it is simply logical. The whole world would be better off if everyone had benevolent feelings towards others.
Conversely, wishing ill will toward others is bad karma. What goes around comes around. So the best way to treat the matter is to distance oneself from abrasive individuals while also wishing them well. It is the most logical approach to build a better life, a better America and a better world.
Hello CASPER,
I originally stumbled onto the idea of wishing one's adversaries well when a college buddy and I embarked on a habit of playing chess. We quickly found out that he was a much better player than I was, easily winning game after game.
Then he did something that I considered strange. He began to give me pointers and tips. My playing improved and eventually I was able to beat him sometimes.
I asked him why he would help me when it ended up causing him to lose.
He said that by helping me it also helped him. If I made a better opponent, it challenged him more and caused him to consider strategies that he had never thought of.
By continually challenging one another, we both improved.
btw, the first thing to know about playing better chess is to immediately go after the center 4 squares. If you control those 4 squares in the center of the board you control the whole board.
And the next thing to know is that if you get an advantage in having more pieces on the board, then begin sacrificing your own trading them for you opponents pieces of equal value. That way you can go from a 16-15 advantage down to 2-1.
Just those two concepts makes anybody a far better player.
All I did was apply that approach to life.
Basic logic.
And that is why it is fruitless to wish ill will towards nasty chat room posters.
Unity = "I will be better if you are better."
And, scaling that up to the we/they theory, WE will be better if THEY are better.
After that, all we have to do is work out national policy based on the input of liberals and conservatives.
Creating a more perfect union is a snap!
Let's get to it, shall we?
Hello Jarod,
Makes sense.
But then how could there be true unity without forgiveness?
Unity means everyone has some skin in the game. Making demands but being unwilling to make concessions does not lead to unity.
Do you want unity or not?
please to esplain this shit:
50 GOP Senators means nothing to me.
We don't need them at all to recover the economy.
We can leave them behind.
What do 51 or more Republican Senators do for ya?
Anyone who's been in a successful relationship knows nobody likes being taken for granted. There's an old business saying about being careful of the toes you are stepping on today because they might be attached to the ass you're kissing tomorrow.
Diplomacy has a part here...although I prefer my definition of the dog and the rock.
If the Democratic party is serious about unity, like in a successful relationship, they'll show it. Protecting the nation from ever seeing again their own Capitol overrun by fantacial insurrectionists, much less them having been sent their by a sitting President, should be a top bipartisan priority behind COVID and it's economic impact on the nation.
Zero. All the insurrectionists believed their leader Trump and thought they were saving the nation. This was fanaticism pure and simple with Trump as the Cult leader handing out the Kool-Aid.
Nothing.
Literally nothing.
That's what they did the last time they had 51+ seats...nothing.
So I'm not concerned or worried that I'm missing out on wonderful ideas from the same people who tried to insurrect against our government, and did absolutely nothing for us when they had control.
I'm 100% on board with Republicans compromising for unity's sake.
But they aren't.
They have. Biden showed it yesterday in his speech. Then McConnell went on the floor of the Senate and made threats.
So much for unity.
Here's the thing, though, Dutch...the Republicans supported that insurrection.
So how do you unify with that?
So you believe everything a man tells you? Fascinating.
Yes, men can be assholes. Deal with it by showing they have to deal with you. Not in a vengeful bitch sort of way, but in a "everyone has equal rights under the law" sort of way.
One of my old maxims was "Kill'em all, let God sort them out". You're spouting the same ideology in a softer way.
Either way it's silly and won't work in the long run.![]()
