Flashback: Nancy Pelosi praised unionists storming Wisconsin State Capitol

June 2020

Wisconsin’s governor activated the National Guard on Wednesday to protect state properties after a night of violence that included the toppling of two statues outside the state Capitol, one of which commemorated an abolitionist Civil War hero.

Protesters also attacked a state senator, threw a Molotov cocktail into a government building and attempted to break into the Capitol Tuesday night, only to be repelled by pepper spray from police stationed inside. The violence broke out as a group of 200 to 300 people protested the arrest of a Black man who shouted at restaurant customers through a megaphone while carrying a baseball bat.

Gov. Tony Evers, who toured the damage and said the violence was in “stark contrast” to earlier peaceful protests, said he was activating the National Guard “to make sure people can exercise their First Amendment rights while ensuring the safety of members of the public and state buildings and infrastructure.”

“If your goal was to advance social justice and policing reforms in the state of Wisconsin and making sure systemic racism is a thing of the past, you failed,” Evers said of the protesters on WTMJ-AM.

Republican state lawmakers and others faulted Evers and Madison's Democratic mayor for not moving more quickly on Tuesday to quell the violence.

“The mob has become very bold,” said Madison Alderman Paul Skidmore. “They see they can get away with a little, and they inch forward more and more. (Downtown Madison) is a battle zone right now, and I fear for my city.”

The violence unfolded in a city long known as a liberal bastion with a long history of protest, dating back to student demonstrations on the University of Wisconsin campus in the 1960s.

That's beautiful, "copy and paste," attempting to show events in 2011 are comparable to the recent invasion of the US Capitol offers a narrative of events in 2020, alright, nothing to see here

I don't recall "attempting to show events in 2011 are comparable to the recent invasion of the US Capitol", Anchovies.

Aren't you going to squirt some crocodile tears about the leftist violence that's happened more than one in Madison?

Didn't think so.

Poor Anchovies.

The anti-union scab is the lowest form of life, comparable to a terrorist, child molester, Republican, or fucking moron from Tennessee.
Go help CFM string his fucking banjo, volsrock.

The Scab
A Poem by: Jack London (1876-1916)
"After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad, and the vampire, he had some awful substance left with which he made a scab."
"A scab is a two-legged animal with a corkscrew soul, a water brain, a combination backbone of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of rotten principles."
"When a scab comes down the street, men turn their backs and angels weep in heaven, and the devil shuts the gates of hell to keep him out."
"No man (or woman) has a right to scab so long as there is a pool of water to drown his carcass in, or a rope long enough to hang his body with. Judas was a gentleman compared with a scab. For betraying his master, he had character enough to hang himself." A scab has not.
"Esau sold his birthright for a mess of pottage. Judas sold his Savior for thirty pieces of silver. Benedict Arnold sold his country for a promise of a commission in the British army." The scab sells his birthright, country, his wife, his children and his fellowmen for an unfulfilled promise from his employer.
Esau was a traitor to himself; Judas was a traitor to his God; Benedict Arnold was a traitor to his country; a scab is a traitor to his God, his country, his family and his class."

"copy" is giving you "proof" of events in 2011 with information from events in 2020, are you really that blinded by the Kool Aid

I corrected his error, Anchovies. It seems you're the one "blinded by the Kool Aid".

Poor Anchovies.

I'm taking it up with you.

Did some kids accidentally hit the glass while playing baseball?

Madison police confirmed Tuesday morning that the department had arrested six people during Monday night protests, including one person armed with a handgun, and continued to investigate the unrest to identify potential additional suspects.

Spurred by the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, protesters took to the streets in Madison on Monday; arrests began when some protesters lit fires in dumpsters, hit officers with rocks and other objects and shattered windows. The State Capitol was among the buildings damaged.

Police said about 500 people attended the protests. More protest activity was expected Tuesday, including a march for Black Lives Matter and subsequent candlelight vigil at the Capitol from 6 to 9 p.m., organized by Freedom Inc.

State Sen. Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) said that the damage to his office at the Capitol was similar to the damage of nearly two months ago, when windows in his office were smashed during the protests after the death of George Floyd.

The Kenosha protests didn't happen in 2011, you fucking idiot. That's what this thread is about.

This thread is your buddy Volsrocks' attempt to conflate the 2011 capitol protest by WI workers with the 2021 capitol siege that resulted in a murdered cop.

If you want to start a thread whining about last summer's protests, by all means, do so. This ain't it, Lesion.

Well, that is exactly what you did there pal.

Your man "vols" used his article from Fox to prove Pelosi was supposedly a "hypocrite" for supporting the 2011 protests yet opposing the Capitol invasion, and when he was easily proven wrong, you jumped in showing us pictures from 2020 attempting to validate his malarkey. And you got snagged

Having trouble processing are we

Too much in a hurry to get in what he thought was a gotcha moment to note the date on his source

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has gone on record praising the storming of the Capitol as an "impressive show of democracy in action" -- the 2011 invasion of the Madison, Wis., state capitol, that is.

Ten years earlier, unionists stormed the Wisconsin State Capitol in an attempt to block a vote on collective bargaining reform. Thousands of demonstrators managed to enter the building by violently breaking down doors and shattering windows -- but the attack garnered much praise from Pelosi and other prominent Democrats at the time.

The House Speaker took to Twitter to express her "solidarity" with the activists as they attacked the Capitol, and sent senators into hiding until police managed to remove them from the building

Funny how short of a memory folks have.

Thousands protest anti-union bill in Wisconsin
February 17, 2011 12:01 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Thousands of teachers, prison guards and students descended on the Wisconsin Capitol for a second day Wednesday to fight a move to take union rights away from government workers in the state that first granted them more than a half-century ago.

The Statehouse filled with as many as 10,000 demonstrators who chanted, sang the national anthem and beat drums for hours. The noise level in the Rotunda rose to the level of a chainsaw, and many Madison teachers joined the protest by calling in sick in such numbers that the district had to cancel classes.

The new Republican governor, Scott Walker, is seeking passage of the nation's most aggressive anti-union proposal, which was moving swiftly through the GOP-led Legislature.

Walker said he appreciated the concerns of protesters, but taxpayers "need to be heard as well." He said he would not do anything to "fundamentally undermine the principles" of the bill.

"I'm fighting for my home and my career," said Virginia Welle, a 30-year-old teacher at Chippewa Falls High School. She said she and her husband, who is also a teacher, each stand to lose $5,000 a year in higher pension and health care contributions.

Welle said she could never get that money back since the unions would be unable to bargain over benefits under Walker's plan.

The protests have been larger and more sustained than any in Madison in decades. Dozens of protesters spent the night in sleeping bags on the floor of the Rotunda.

Says who?

You?

Choke on this: "Police found 41 rounds of 22-caliber rifle ammunition outside the Wisconsin state Capitol. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the locked entrance to the Capitol, chanting "Break down the door!" and "General strike!" The crowds grew to thousands, surging into the Capitol. 18 Republican state senators who voted for the law received death threats. Katherine R. Windels of Cross Plains, Wisconsin sent death threat e-mails to Republican lawmakers the same day the legislation passed, and was arrested and charged with two felony and two misdemeanor counts by the Dane County district attorney."
