"Defund The Police": Maybe The Most Counter-Productive Progressive Policy Yet

First you made a sarcasm (AKA strawman. ;) ):

After I pointed it out, you said:

Then I said:

Then you asked me how I know, implying that it was YOUR claim in the first place. ;)

I realize that you used the word, "may". The problem with your claim is there have been no such proposals. Who the hell wants to see the SWAT teams disappear?
The article you posted proves otherwise.

Most of the proposals target cuts in the police department's SWAT team, encampment removal team and mounted unit.

I love that movie. I must have watched it like 100 times. It's one of those movies I watch religiously every year.

I have heard that the law students in their first year were required to watch the movie and discuss, especially the part about so called expert witnesses.

Expert witnesses are what make the difference and make or break the cases.

I saw it on a sneak preview showing. I watch it every time I see it on the TV schedule. It's a great comedy.

Besides many things I love about the movie, what I like about it (I don't know if some people realize it) is that it kicks the male chauvinism directly in the head with a high heel shoe.

"Woman? Expert? Blech!"
"Hold my beer."

Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei are my people.

Take away the New York accents, substitute North End ones,
and those characters may as well have been old friends from the hood.

Che bella cosa na jurnata ’e sole......

there is proof sending out social workers either in addition to cops or instead of cops works.

no there isn't.....and to confirm that, you will never post anything to show what you posted is anything more than the rambling of your drug confused mind.....

Having said that the notion to re-allocate funding using data driven analytics to address root causes of crime is a proven more affective over all and most often is more cost affective, than throwing more money at the problem.

nice point but it ignores the fact that "defunding" doesn't mean not throwing more money at the problem.........what we have seen is a reduction in funding for police, which obviously is not effective in stopping crime and in fact has been seen to increase it.......even the city council members of Minneapolis who voted to decrease funding to the police have asked why crime has increased there, as if they weren't smart enough to figure it out.......probably weren't since they were demmycrats.........

So let me give just one example from the experience in London. That clown Sadiq Khan reined back massively on stop and search, resulting in acid throwing and knife crime going through the roof. It's starting to go down again no thanks to that twat. Do you want to tell my son and daughter in law that they were mistaken and a crack SWAT team of social workers would have been better?

Having said that, needle exchanges and detox programmes can be effective but they need careful monitoring. So are you denying that it was just coincidence that murder rates rocketed up after Floyd's demise last year?

No, I’m saying that conditions exist outside the scope of competent policing need to be addressed that are more productive and less costly that need to be addressed as well. I’m not saying we don’t need police rather I’m saying more police a d more aggressive policing isn’t always the best solution and that sometimes it can make matters worse.

the funny part is Chicago and Portland is TRYING TO HIRE MORE COPS AFTER DEFUNDING!!

DeBlasio is putting back some money into the cops budget. what a bunch of morons
