I have taken your advice poliTalker, am updating my PIP.

while it can be rewarding to disparage and mock JPP's looong list of racists, ultimately one gets filthy dirty in the process, they should be soundly ignored

Why would I object to a program that I think is not productive, doesn’t add value and would likely have the unintended consequence of producing a black lash and turning people against each other?

I think that speaks for itself.

One would think lol.

I started a thread on the potential political pitfalls for democrats with pushing CRT. I think it was last week a school board meeting erupted over it and transgender indoctrination in Loudoun County VA. That’s right outside of DC and not exactly flyover country.

Why do they seem intent on dying on this hill?

I still think most people don’t know what CRT is so as of today it’s not going to play a huge role in the midterm elections. I’m not worried about the political implications of it but the actual results. Teaching history, including our warts, is a good thing. Dividing people like CRT does is not helpful. That’s my concern and why I don’t support it.

Congratulations, reagansghost. I think you'll find a wonderful serenity in only talking to polite people.

I love it not having to deal with the unruly. You can't change them, but you can ignore them.

Well if you really believed that would be the result, then such a response is logical.

I simply disagree with that belief.

I just don't see how it will produce such a result.

The objections being raised make no sense. Most of them are based on incorrect assumptions and propaganda.

I believe there is a misunderstanding on the right of what CRT actually teaches. It's not meant to single anybody out. Nobody should be offended by it.

The right is turning it into a big straw man so they can rip it to shreds.

Falsely playing the victimhood card.

Taking offense where none was intended.

That's not the purpose of CRT.

Not sure how you can say it won’t play a role in the midterms with some of the rukus being raised over it. Keep in mind this comes on the heels of so many parents playing second fiddle to teachers unions over *unnecessary* school closings during Covid.

And now they want to teach CRT and indoctrinate their kids with transgender nonsense while giving them the ‘go pound sand’ bit. It’s horrendous politics and they’re going to pay for it.

Fair point in that as a partisan Republican I can’t claim to know what drives those who actually consider voting for both democrats and republicans. (I know what drives me to vote Libertarian on occasion but not Democrats outside local races with no Republicans in them.)

Midterms aren’t for another 16-18 months or so so I can’t pretend to know what the mood of people will be at the time and what the main topics will be. I guess we’ll find out if CRT is still at the forefront.

Edit: If we’re talking strictly politics I could see some suburban white moms who lean Republican but didn’t like Trump get turned off by this. From a left wing perspective I’ve seen on Twitter people saying Republicans and white supremists are against CRT. Does that help influence/increase minority turnout to benefit Democrats? I can’t answer that one way or their other but it’s a possibility I guess.

I agree. Some think CRT means teaching areas of black history they think are being neglected. They would be surprised about what is being taught. But CRT (although vague) is not history. History is not designed to teach a particular point of view. Most classes already neglect certain areas of history because of time constraints.

Teaching CRT (or anything else) is basically what the instructor chooses to teach. There is almost no supervision about what instructors actually teach.

Well said. It’s not history, it’s an ideology which is why we hear the stories from the classrooms of kids being told to line up in order of privilege (as just one example). We’ll see if more incidents and stories come to light and how they are perceived by the public.

I can't really see much difference to reeducation camps in former Communist countries. Much the same brainwashing techniques but at least you don't end up in a Gulag, well not yet anyway.

They seem to think people don't know there is prejudice and discrimination in the world. Teaching about slavery, segregation, the civil rights movement, and voting rights makes this pretty clear. Teaching about race relations and economic differences in sociology gets over this point.

Unless people admit they have "white privilege" and white people are racists they aren't satisfied.

I got called a racist because I posted some IRS data on income tax that had no racial element at all. But they think they get to decide who is a racist and they exempt themselves from that accusation.

Because they too are Americans. A sensible country would be re-organising its police entirely, jailing the racist murderers.
