Ronald reagan race baited and cheated his way into power

He then sold arms for hostages and lied about it

He licked the ass of the wealthy

He was not a good person

He was an actor that fooled you

Can you admit the facts?

Changes the whole meaning doesn't it?

NO, it makes it WAY WORSE.

Because now you're saying that Conservatism is rooted in the inclination to stop progress, and the context of that progress in 1955 when that statement was written, was desegregation.

Do you...do you think there's a non-racist argument against desegregation?

Your way makes it sound like "Stop everything, fuck you!" rather than "Stop! Let's look at this for a minute before rushing into something that hurts us."

OK, and in the context of 1955, when that was written, what was happening that they didn't want to merely pause and contemplate, but rather utterly stop in its tracks?

What SCOTUS decision was just handed down less than a year earlier, that altered the course of the Civil Rights Movement?

I can abide by much, Dutch, but intellectual dishonesty is insulting to me and I take it personally when someone tries that bullshit.

How you can tell when the Republican Party became the racist party?

When the Americans who were black switched parties

Then the republicans said all those black people got fooled

They think all black people are stupid

Disagreed on the effectiveness of it honoring democracy and agreed it nor any other party will be perfect.

Your party gave into unDemocratic principles in 2016 and many here still support a return of Hillary just like the fucking Trump nutjobs want their asshole to run.

Agreed the system is sound. Like a marriage, I think it's lacking maintenance not structure.

Also agreed on country over party.

Many people confuse the two. To many their Country IS their political party, the other party is full of outsiders.

The day after the United Nations voted to recognize the People’s Republic of China, then–California Governor Ronald Reagan phoned President Richard Nixon at the White House and vented his frustration at the delegates who had sided against the United States. “Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing on television as I did,” Reagan said. “Yeah,” Nixon interjected. Reagan forged ahead with his complaint: “To see those, those monkeys from those African countries—damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!” Nixon gave a huge laugh.

Ronald Reagan’s Long-Hidden Racist Conversation With Richard Nixon
In newly unearthed audio, the then–California governor disparaged African delegates to the United Nations.

Now play the LBJ racist tape. LOL

Yes, even the first Republican President was a fucking racist. Same goes for LBJ. OTOH, Harry S Truman seemed a lot more enlightened than the Democrats before him and after.**

Are you claiming the Republicans hold a monopoly on racism in American, evince? I'd agree with a majority of the racism, maybe even 75%, being on the Republican side but I'd have to see the numbers first. :)

Racism, bigotry, discrimination for genetic reasons and hatred are bad. Wrong. Neither party is virtuous when it comes to any of them. Sure, the Republicans are worst, but don't use that as an excuse to be blind to racism, misogyny and bigotry in the Democratic Party.

**I was a military brat going to desegregated DOD schools throughout the 60s. The riots and protests on television didn't make sense to me since there were kids and parents of different races on my block and in my school. We played together just like any other kids. It was normal for us. What I saw on television wasn't normal.
