Who gives a damn
jeff... you come late to the conversation.
the original issue was the use of the term "great white hope" and its clear racial connotations....
it has since morphed into a discussion about how the GOP plans to increase the percentage of minority voters that it gets...
I have been waiting for yurt to provide some of the current GOP thinking on that subject, but I guess he must be out of the loop.
Are you any more well versed in that? Can you explain what your party plans to do to increase the numbers of minorities that vote republican?
And regarding blacks in Maine.... there aren't really all that many of them, that is for sure... but nearly all of them are democrats and I know most of the ones who run for office. Did you know that, even though we have an african american population of less than one percent, four years ago, three of the top five cities in Maine had black mayors and the only reason they are no longer in office is because of term limits or they moved on to statewide office? One of them was in MY town and I had a fund raiser for him in my living room... his wife was the organist at our church... Maine may be lily white, but the folks of color we have do not feel discriminated against.... unlike other states further south.![]()
MM I must apologize for jumping in, but when a white person goes on about lily white people it just cracks me up, I use to work in a all Italian area, one of the guys there told me he was more Italian than I cause he married one, LOL, when ya have to do shit like that, ya do embarrass yourself , and yes I know there are very few blacks in Maine.
But does the color of the skin really matter?
I would much rather see a smart person in office and couldn't give a rats ass what color he/she is
