Russia and Qatar will host World Cups

Yeah, and I don't like watching baseball on TV. Now going to a baseball game is nice, but that's different.
I have to agree, there is something about the real thing! I like the local semi pro teams here in Alaska, we have some pretty good ball!

Do you like baseball, now that is slow paced and boring!

It sure is. I'll go if we get free tickets but I won't pay to go.

I watched my kids play soccer and the game grows on you, especially when the kids are older and not just in it for after-game juice boxes.

Alcohol has not been sold in UK football stadiums for many years.

That's half right, Tom.

While you can't take a refreshing beverage on the terraces (or, sadly, more often seats these days) you can head off to the bars conveniently located in most of the stands and drink shite lager out of plastic cups to your heart's content. Apparently, as long as you're 'out of view of the pitch' you're perfectly legal.

Then your stadiums blow. And how, may I ask, does so much chaos still persist in the stands?

Fuck. That. Shit.

Although most of the trouble now takes place at English Defence League marches as the Anti-Nazi League are always guaranteed to front up in numbers.

It is a fault in your character that I have tried to overlook these many years, you are forgiven...or they are trying to spread goodwill and make these countries feel included so many they will join the human race and quit being a terrorist nation! The size of the country doesn't matter, just the soccer fields and the security. Africa proved you can host a game in a hostile place and still have great games! I will have to read more on the subject to determine why they granted it to Qatar. Cawacko, if we don't let these small backwards countries advance, how do you expect them to come of age?

Qatar isn't a backwards nation, economically. Not by a longshot.

To the soccer lovers I apologize. I'd rather watch curling than watch soccer. Soccer is one of my least favorite sports....right alongside hockey and auto racing of any kind. I just can't stand to watch hours of a "sport" where the only excitement comes once to maybe 3 or 4 times in 3-4 hours. I loved to play baseball and even turned down a scholarship to play in college...but I don't even like to watch that on TV. That said, I can understand the skepticism on the part of the Brits and Americans at this decision. I know it turned out OK in Africa but Qatar isn't Africa. Quite frankly it would scare me some to travel there...but then I'm a 'fraidy cat anyway. If only Morgan hadn't missed a page.... ;)

Qatar isn't particularly dangerous. There has been one suicide bombing there in... like... history. There are a thousand things that are more likely to kill you.

And what is wrong with reactions based on Patriotism or Nationalism. Is it wrong to think that the country one is from is better suited to host such an event? Is it wrong to think we (USA or GB) have more to offer than some other countries? I will always think that we're the best.

If it doesn't have more to offer, yes. Nationalism and patriotism is idiocy.

Of course i immediately thought, "Ties are like kissing your sister." I wonder where that came from anyway...who would want to kiss their sister. I was sure glad when college football implemented an overtime so we could have an eventual winner when a game ended in a tie.

Ties are like kissing your sister

Who would want to kiss their sister?

Therefore, ties are bad.

Excellent logic there.

Today is the 4th day of Spirit Week at our school. It is favorite jersey day. There are OU and OSU jersey's everywhere...accompanied by a couple of Texas jerseys. Don't think I don't ridicule the wearers of the Texas jerseys as being disloyal to thier state. I am very nationalistic...and even more state-istic....if you'll allow me to create a word.

WM: proudly disloyal to his state since 1989.

Mississippi is seriously the worst state in the union. It's shameful that I'm from here.

However, I wouldn't wear jerseyes from another state either, since I'm equally disloyal and bitter towards every state and country.

They once had a 10 cent beer night at a professional baseball match in America. Didn't turn out so well.
