Mrs. Santorum

I knew a guy who left the Jehovah's Witness. He told me about an elderly couple (in their early 80s) who were Jehovah's Witness and lived in the same apartment complex which I did. When the wife died he told me the man, not being a "registered" Jehovah's Witness, was told to sit at the back of the church now that his wife had died. Basically they ostracized him now that his wife was no longer a member.

I'm not against any particular religion. I'm against any and all religions that treat people cruelly. I often wonder what motivates people to remain members of such religions. The only answer that makes sense is they are concerned about their own "welfare" (Heaven/Hell) regardless of how others are treated. That being the case what would possibly motivate me or anyone else to want to associate with such people?

That is absolutely true. I know a couple of JWs who were "shunned" because they did something that the ruling body decided was sinful. One was a young guy who wanted to marry a certain woman that his mother didn't like, so he and his mom were fighting about it. Then the elders or whatever they're called decided my friend should be shunned because he "disrespected" his mother. Maybe the righties here can tell us how this is any different from what they hate about Islam.

That was hardly the point being made. The Directive exists and the nun abided by it, so the bishop excommunicated her. Why? Clearly because he thought the mother should die in hopes of saving the fetus. Or that both should die because it would be God's will.

the nun and the bishop disagreed about the application of the directive.....when the bishop's decision was appealed the excommunication was overturned........meanwhile, the claim is that Catholic doctors let women die......that simply isn't true.....

Lol, you don't reverse an excommunication on appeal as it's not a legal issue. The bottom line is that the particular bishop, Olmsted, wanted to gamble on the woman's life AND the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops backed him up.

fool......the excommunication was reversed, not in court, but by the church......something doesn't have to be a legal issue to be appealed, it was appealed under the rules of the Catholic Church......

I expect you'll have to find a JW to get that answer.......

III What if, in order to save the life of the mother, independently of her pregnant condition, a surgical intervention or a therapeutic treatment is necessary which would have as an accidental consequence, in no way desired nor intended, the death of the fetus?

"Deliberately We have always used the expression 'direct attempt on the life of an innocent person,' 'direct killing.' Because if, for example, the saving of the life of the future mother, independently of her pregnant condition, should urgently require a surgical act or other therapeutic treatment which would have as an accessory consequence, in no way desired nor intended, but inevitable, the death of the fetus, such an act could no longer be called a direct attempt on an innocent life. Under these conditions the operation can be lawful, like other similar medical interventions - granted always that a good of high worth is concerned, such as life, and that it is not possible to postpone the operation until after the birth of the child, nor to have recourse to other efficacious remedies." Pius XII, Allocution to Large Families, Nov. 26, 1951. (17)

Frankly I do not have to do anything, if you choose not to believe then that's because you wish to remain wilfully ignorant and there is no cure for that.

and if it's your wish leave with everyone being aware you're ignorant you can choose not to provide any evidence of it while holding on to your ridiculous claim.......by the way, I don't know if you missed it or you're simply ignoring it, but bravo proved you're lying just a few posts up........

Guess their comments must really sting you since you, like so many other righties here, went directly to the cheap sexual insult.

Yes, oh my yes. Darla and Rana are very polite and respectful of others. Darla is never sexist, is she..........

Peddle that shit to some naive college kid.

All the lies the left can dream up and spew in the next 10 months are not going to get Obama re-elected. It's pitiful to watch a great political party act like street hustlers to get this fraud re-elected. The faithful little dweebs will lie and slander whoever they are told to. They can't run on any issues because they have failed. This kind of nasty shit like Darla and Rana spew is all they have. Talk about sheep....... Whore sheep.

Oh my yes...and that's why you've just started a thread attacking the first lady based on nothing more than the second hand memories of some political hack trying to score some points and sell some books...because you're ABOVE the name calling and the insults!

All Failias is, is just another lying little two-faced douchebag...
