A woman's basic right over her body doesn't "belong w/ the states"

This is the right's mantra now: abortion is back w/ the states - "where it belongs."

Can anyone explain why such a sacred right "belongs w/ the states?" And we don't have to debate if abortion is "murder" here. Everyone is dug in on that, on both sides. And it's irrelevant to this discussion.

A woman's right to choose and to have that decision be between her & her healthcare provider shouldn't be something that's at the whim of whatever state she happens to live in. Freedoms are universal.

If it is universal then why doesnt every country have universal freedoms? Why do different states have different laws in regard to voting? What to do with illegal aliens? Why do SOME states have sanctuary cities? Should we make it federal law that NO state can have those types of cities? We can play this silly game of yours all day long...

I mean, you're making my point. Some policies DO belong w/ the states, based on circumstance.

A woman's right to choose is a much more inherent right than anything you mentioned. That's the idea. I'm actually not sure how you missed that.

The vast majority of Americans believe in preserving a woman's right to choose. Because it is her own body - which means it's an inherent right. We all have that right.
The Supreme court of the land says it goes to the states. When Trump is re elected he will add a couple more justices as well. Get used to it and COPE.

That's what the thread is about though - that it should NOT be with the states.

I don't have to get used to it, but many women who will be put into dire circumstances due only to the fact that they live in a certain state will. It's a big step backward for women, and for freedom.

Agreed. If Trump said "it's up to the states to determine if men can breed or not" you'd see the MAGAts flip-flop like a dropped fish.

No, they didn't, Fatboy. The determined that the law, as written, wasn't Constitutional. This is why Trump can push Congress to pass a national abortion ban since SCOTUS (6-3) didn't say it was up to the States. Only that Roe v. Wade didn't pass the Constitutional test. Likewise, Congress can also pass a law legalizing a woman's right to choose. Such laws only have to pass a Constitutional test if challenged in court.

What a fucking moronic argument. The Federal Government sure thought they owned our bodies during Covid didn't they halfwit.

This isn't about a woman's body asshat; it's about making moral choices. Of course, the Democratic Party of Racist Jackasses love it when black women abort the babies by the hundreds of thousands. :palm:

I fully expect to see shortly the Revolution mandating free abortions nationwide.....this will come immediately as we are informed that the Constitution is no longer in effect.

Republicans want to push for a national ban, and even with states where it is legal, conservatives from other states will work to ban it
