Trump is an asshole in my OPINION because there is no quantifiable yardstick or measurement to scientifically verify it as a fact.

Certainly one could say "But it's obvious!!! By all objective standards and generally accepted rules of social decorum, Trump is obviously as asshole!!!!"

But it still resides in the realm of opinion because, as I said, there is no tool by which to measure and verify it.

They are competent enough musicians but not very inventive to my mind at least. I think they are just dialling it in as you boys would say. I doubt for one minute that they care much about the music, it's all about ego and Benjamins to them.

My band performed an Aerosmith song last night- Sweet Emotion- which is an easy song to play, but getting the vocals in there is tough. But, we don't even try some other songs like Dream On because of all the complexity with the music and vocals.

Get your acoustic guitar out and try to play just the intro to Dream on! I dare you! I think you will learn to appreciate Aerosmith and the little embellishments they use to put the icing on the cake!

Well, Aerosmith got there by doing all the right things when it counted.

And that is why they are America's favorite rock band.

And one note about another one of America's Rock Bands mentioned in this thread- TOM PETTY. Tom Petty and Mike Campbell had a very different idea than Aerosmith.

While Aerosmith was technical and their music was complex, Tom and Mike used simplicity to create the same result. And that is why you hear more covers of Tom Petty out there in the clubs than Aerosmith. They are just easier songs to play and sing for most musicians- Especially OLD FARTS like my band!

When you reach the popularity that Tom and Steven has- YOU JUST BECOME AN ICONIC MARK IN MUSIC HISTORY TO BE SHARED WITH MANY OTHERS- AND IN MY OPINION EQUAL TO OTHERS!

I didn't like Michael Jackson in the least, but I can't say he was a truly shitty performer and musical talent.

I take the premise of the OP to mean Aerosmith is "truly shitty", as in lacking in any redeemable talent; complete hacks.

I don't think there is any question Aerosmith had both performing and song writing talent, based on the global popularity they have cultivated for five decades.

I don't think a genuinely talentless hack band could do that.

Well, I don't think I've said that they are "truly shitty" or made much in the way of any definitive comment about them one way or the other or said anything that was stated in the form of a factual statement.

Looking at every post I've made in this thread, I think I can safely say the I've kept my commentary within the realm of presumed opinion...

The only Aerosmith song I ever liked.

Steven Tyler is nothing more than a poor man's Mick Jagger.

I was going to say more or less the same thing.

Just one more reason to dislike them.

The thing I didn't like about either of those two bands is they both had an air of concoctedness about them.

As if their look and style was contrived to appeal to a certain record sales demographic.

I'm a huge fan of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Not just because the songs lyrics and music is as good as it gets in rock-n-roll, but because it is really apparent that they weren't trying to produce a product by which they'd achieve fame, adulation and wealth.

They were a group of buddies from the same small town who loved what they did and it came across in their music.

Kinda like what Petty expressed in one song "I'd have done it for nothin', I'd have done it for free."

I don't get that same feeling from Aerosmith or G&R.

They still seemed kind of fake to me.

Kinda like Garth Brooks is to Country music.

Not genuine.

Especially Axl Rose.

He just seemed like an asshole out to make a buck.

Tyler, too.

Walk This Way is one of their "better" (less crappy) songs I suppose, but I was never much of a fan of it.

Dream On is one of my all time favorite songs by any band, but they just kinda lost me after that.
