It's literally in the first paragraph:

"the right to speak their minds and voice their opinions in public without fear of being shamed or shunned"

So this is the NYT saying THEY shouldn't be shamed or shunned for reporting or saying things that simply aren't true.

My complaint is that the NYT is pretending you have a right to be made comfortable.

And it's not hard to see where they are going with such a silly argument; that they feel they have the right to be comfortable publishing whatever stupid shit they want from whatever stupid people they can find.

Does anyone here (regardless of what you personally think of him) think for a nanosecond, that someone like Donald Trump would be invited to speak at say UC Berkeley or Boston College? And if he were invited, would the audience applaud him like the students at Liberty University did Bernie Sanders?

I'd think there'd be days, possibly weeks, of violent rioting prior to his speech being announced. It'd likely be so bad that the event would have to be cancelled.

The problem of freedom of speech and it's being squelched isn't coming from the Right, but rather from the Left. Sure, there are those on the Right that want to ban books, or some forms of speech, but they aren't omnipresent and endemic like they are on the Left.

Yes they do. You do NOT have the right to speak anywhere without being shamed or shunned. That is not free speech. You have the right to say anything you want. You do NOT have the right to be free of the consequences of it.
The 1st amendment prohibits any laws passed by Congress from restricting your speech or opinion in any way.
That amendment applies ONLY to Congress. It does not apply to anything else.

I just explained my view on Cancel Culture- that I think it is just a way to express hatred towards those one hates!

We never needed the term Cancel Culture- WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS FIND SOME WAY TO STOP ALL THE HATRED FOR OTHERS IN THIS COUNTRY!

One reason why Ukraine has a chance to win their war is because of the UNITY of their nation.

WE ARE NOT THE united states anymore- we are closer to being the divided states- the divided nation.

I can only imagine if Russia suddenly attacked the United States as divided as we are and Un-United as we are right now- as we would just choose sides and Trump would be praising Putin and his Trumptards would turn on our own Americans and we would also be in a Civil War!

Just listen to all the Trumptarded PRO-PUTIN sentiment right here being discussed in the forum as the TRUMPTARDED TRAITORS accuse Biden and NATO for starting the war in the Ukraine!

If that does not make you angry- WTF does?
