AMERICAN GUN VIOLENCE: WE'RE A 24/7 SHOOTING GALLERY FOREVER--LIVE WITH IT

Pretty obvious, as we saw in Georgia two weeks ago, one can walk into a gun store and walk out with a weapon the same day, however, in Georgia no one can register and vote on the same day

Agreed. Keep the guns and the votes same day. :)

people desperate enough to take their lives with a gun will simply find another way. If you're concerned about suicides, you'd do something about that, not go after guns. Of course, if guns are your greater concern, then you really don't give a damn about people taking their lives.

if 19,000 people are such a huge deal, why isn't 18,000 at the border a crisis?

But having a gun in the closet makes it a whole lot easier and quicker than cutting your wrists or creating a scaffold, and much less painful

And eighteen thousand people at the border aren't killing themselves

so you don't really care about suicides, you just care about guns. got it.

And eighteen thousand people at the border aren't killing themselves

but they are imprisoned in cages and, if i remember right, you were highly upset about that last year before the election.....right?

So does stepping out of a window from the 10th+ floor or off the roof.

Sure. 19,000. How many were in cities compared to rural areas where most legitimate gun owners live? Criminals shooting other criminals? Abusive spouses? How many murders don't Democrats give a shit about because they were done with baseball bats, knives and automobiles?

Maybe it's time for the gun-grabbing Lefties to start looking closer at these deaths instead of just seeking to ban guns from lawful ownership.

Where gun violence occurs matters little, all your statistics prove my point, too many guns and too easy access to too many guns

And as far as breakdown, gun violence occurs greater in those States with high gun ownership especially when combined with few gun restrictions (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...nce-see-where-your-state-stacks-up/359395002/)

My guns have never threatened, much less hurt, anyone while in my position. I'm a retired military veteran with a concealed carry permit. Why do you think I should be deprived of a semi-automatic rifle or a magazine with more than 10 rounds?

Thanks for the link but that's like having a link where states having more cars or swimming pools have more auto accidents or drownings. Duh.

Note who is killing whom. Stop those assholes.

I am pointing out the facts regarding guns and suicide, one makes the other a whole lot easier

And as far as cages, which has nothing at all to do with the topic, if the prior Administration would have created the infrastructure to handle the bulge of numbers that arrive every Spring instead of building stupid walls the situtation might have been easier today

Being a military veteran has nothing to do with it, nice try, and why do you or anyone else need "a semi-automatic rifle or a magazine with more than 10 rounds?"

Exactly, you proved my point, having more guns leads to more gun deaths, too many guns and too easy access to too many guns, not rocket science

people desperate enough to take their lives with a gun will simply find another way.

Not always, using the gun is often -- especially for teenagers in the midst of the usual angst we all go through -- easy to use and takes no planning. I know two young people who died when they were 16 from suicide by gun. The girl was my kids' friend and lived across the street. She begged her parents after shooting herself not to let her die, but she did.

Ahhh, yes. Lefties don't like the military and, therefore, don't want to consider that all go through weapons training at least once. In the case of combat arms like myself, I had to qualify every fucking year for 20 years. That's a lot of weapons experience even for a dirty ol' helicopter pilot like myself.

Why are you so quick to strip me of that expertise when it comes to owning a firearm?

True, not rocket science. You do understand you're making my point about a Democratic agenda to strip all Americans of their rights along with their firearms by dictating to We, the People what we "need", what we think and what we should believe.

True, but IMHO, the fact a teen was even in that position tells me there's a huuuuuge fucking problem in our schools and communities where a teen's angst is strong enough that they want to commit suicide.

Sure, the gun makes it very fatal very fast whereas it takes a couple minutes to hang themselves, drown themselves or die from slit wrists.

Sorry, but banning all guns to prevent teen suicides is not going to work. The solution is obvious: better mental health care along with annual or biannual screening in schools.

Identify those most at risk and work on solutions. If a kid is playing with a rope or cutting themselves, banning ropes and razor blades is not the solution.

i know 3 teens who committed suicide when guns were readily available, yet one chose to hang himself in his closet and the other two used heroin

No it doesn't, I lean left, and qualified on five weapons in the service, means little

And you didn't answer the question, why do you or anyone else need "a semi-automatic rifle or a magazine with more than 10 rounds?" It is not all about you, but, as the Founders intended, what is best for the common good, and no one is coming to take away your toys

We are not going to ban guns. Agree with you on suicide prevention; they already have such programs in schools... even grade schools. :(
