The problem with that one is the ranked voting told us it would not work. Given a second choice, enough Begich voters said they would prefer Peltola to give her 51%.

The only way for Republicans to win is if they could get Begich nominated, but that simply could not happen.

The second choice gave voters the right to decide who they would vote for in a two way race. 51.5% of the voters said they would vote for Peltola in a two way race between her and Palin. Sorry, your candidate loses in every possible contest.

Agreed on both points. I doubt Sybil forgot it. In his case it's more a matter of perception; the ability to see things as they truly are.

Mental illness is like seeing the world through a fun house mirror. They believe the distortion is real. Sybil, and a few other JPP Trumpers for various reasons, are unable to perceive the truth.

It's a matter of mental processing just like dyslexia*; we all see the world through almost identical eyes and, for the most part, we all process what we see the same way. To do much less wouldn't be advantageous for a tribe of humans in the long run. Other predators, either two or four-legged, would have a major advantage over those unable to effectively reason.

For the mentally ill, the distorted processing depends upon their specific illness(es). The factor they all have in common is that reality is distorted in their mind.

In short, Sybil won't agree or see your point because it's impossible for him to do so...at least without proper treatment.

The majority of Alaskans do not want Palin, but the majority of Republicans do want Palin. That sets up a situation where Republicans cannot win Alaska. For them to win, one of those two facts must change, but they are unwilling to even admit reality, so are unlikely to be able to change the facts.

Maybe one of the "progressives" here can explain to FF that I've been living in AK since '99 and as the former state dental director of their community health centers I've worked in clinics in Metalakatla, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Anchorage, Talkeetna, Fairbanks and Bethel. I don't believe I'm capable of lowering myself to where I can explain this in simple enough terms to FF (fuckface?).

Palin did win that election. It happened in 1992. It was part of a greater process that got Roe v. Wade overturned, so while she had little effect, there was a bigger effect from the overall thing.

Palin as governor was able to push through a law that required abortion providers to lie to patients and say abortions cause breast cancer. She also got the number of abortion clinics in Alaska reduced to three, in an attempt to get them reduced to zero. She has said she supports criminal prosecutions for pregnant women trying to leave the state for abortions.

The people of Alaska know what they get with Palin.

That's why she has such high negatives here. I suspect the only votes she got were from the Trumpers. Likewise the only votes Peltola got were from dims. Dims slightly outnumber the Trumpers apparently. Begich got caught in between.
