First of all it wasn't given, it was sold. Second of all it's not Uranium that can be used for weapons. Third of all the uranium is still in the US. This deal was basically an investment on Russia's end, like if they had bought %20 of our gold or something similar. That's why it went though the Committee of Foreign Investments.

The deal was part of Russia's strategic plan to corner the global market on uranium it is irrelevant whether not the uranium remains in the U.S. or not, the Russians still own it.

So? It's still just an investment deal. Say what you will about the various monies involved, but them owning %20 of our non weapons grade uranium simply means they have some uranium they can sell at a later date.
