No! They are not Socialism!

They are Social Safety-net Programs!

Socialism is a type of government- A government that owns everything, where everyone in the country lives in government supplied housing, where everyone eats government supplied food, where the only jobs are Government jobs, and the Government decides who does what

SO NO! AMERICA IS NOT A SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT

The question is- WHY ARE YOU SUCH AN IDIOT FOR NOT ALREADY KNOWING THIS?

Success is having a beautiful wife and family, raising our children to be responsible and successful, retiring early to our mountain home where we don't have to put up with dirty urbaners. Self-reliance.
 
As to the original question:

As first designed, no Social Security was not a Socialist thing. It was a national pension fund into which each worker paid. The funds were invested in government bonds and such and drew interest. The money was separated from other government funding. Then LBJ came along, looted the social security funds to pay for his "Great Society" Socialist-Welfare program (which failed miserably--one good example of that is the Watts riots) and Social Security became essentially a Ponzi scheme ever after.

Medicaid and Medicare are Socialist health insurance programs that rose out of LBJ's "Great Society" scheme. Everybody pays in. Eligibility is limited rather than being a universal plan, but it still amounts to Socialized health insurance because everybody pays for it even if only some reap the benefits of it.

only to a small extent you see we pay a tax right out of our pAY CHECK FOR THESE THAT ARE A PAID BENEFITS OF A SORT THAT WORKING PEOPLE HAVE PAID DIRECTLY.
i AM a right wing type and I support them .

what I dont support ARE PROGRAMS THAT ARE SO OFTEN ABUSED SUCH AS THE WELFARE SYSTEM AND FOOD STAMP PROGRAMS THAT OFTEN BECOME CRADLE TO THE GRAVE PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE MADE POOR DECISIONS .
WE NEED THEM TO HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE DOWN ON THEIR LUCK TEMPORALLY BUT NOT FOR Decades.
OR FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF KIDS OVER THE YEARS TO KEEP BENEFITS.

You see as a so called right winger I believe we are all responsible for the decisions we make in life and that we should strive to correct the wrong one we make not become wards of the state because of our decisions . so in retrospect you have no clue what your talking about and are little more then a drama queen .

I was born very poor myself but have worked hard to alter my likes circumstances , we all can .
but not as life long support systems for people who have made bad decisions
i support food stmps and welfare etc for limited periods of time.

How hard is it to assume, therefore, that they actually don't know what most words mean?

If they don't learn something correctly from their sister-mothers in the double wide, they certainly don't have the capacity to learn it anywhere else.

You paid for half of it unless you are self employed. Unemployment is not paid by the employee.

But one is no less "socialism" than the other just because of a tax label. They could label some of your income taxes "food stamps" and that would not really be any different in principle.

Your Social Security and Medicare taxes seldom cover all the money you will get out of those systems, so you are not actually paying for all of it.
