Automaker Stellantis to Idle Illinois Plant, Citing Rising Electric Vehicle Productio

America is not going to let Jeep just die. There are a lot of people that love their Jeeps. Just as the Subaru fans are not going to do without their Subarus- but that is a different company. Jeeps and Subarus are really both niche' markets.

Since Jeeps are normally used for BRAVADO, recreation, off-roading, vacationing, and etc., I knew they were going to be the last of the manufacturers to get on the EV game plan, because they are considered luxury items, to most working class families. They tend to be in the same market as RV's which is also a luxury item to most hard working families.

So really, it is Fiat that has the major problem here. What Fiat is doing here is looking for a new American partner to invest in them, and at the same time, looking for the US Government to help save their American footprint and the American Jobs that goes along with it.

Fiat will get what they want, either with a New Partner to save them, or the US government will end up setting up a Bailout for them, that will include an agreement to keep making the EV's, and will include a pay-back commitment to the US government.

So everybody just relax- THIS IS THE AUTO INDUSTRY WE ARE TALKIN' ABOUT HERE.

And the US most always comes to the rescue to save these kinds of jobs.

I kind of like the way that FIAT is handling this! Brilliant really! They are laying things on the line and asking for help!

That's all!

Communism doesn't work, dude.

And so it begins. The realization that EV's are just too expensive to produce.

They are not. The auto companies did those studies before they began. You say the dumbest shit. They are building 3 huge battery plants in the midwest. I guess if they had your inside knowledge, they would not do it.

Fiction. Buzzword fallacy. BOTH vehicles produce CO2.

Special pleading fallacy.

You dingbats use Tesla as the base in talking EV prices. That is dishonest. That is what comes to you naturally. EVs do not pollute like ICEs. Are you telling us you do not even know that?

The MAGA rubes would have been the first ones whining back in the horse and buggy days when Gas engine cars were introduced

They tried electric cars before gas powered cars. Gas powered cars were far more reliable, so that's what they went with.

They are not.
They are.

No, they didn't.
You say the dumbest shit.
Inversion fallacy.

They need lithium ore, getting more expensive all the time to mine and process it, and cobalt ore, getting more expensive all the time to mine and process it.
I guess if they had your inside knowledge, they would not do it.
They are only doing it because the government is forcing them to...in other words, fascism.

Nope. Tesla is a good base in talking EV prices. I already know you are too embarrassed to talk about your car.
EV's pollute worse then ICE cars. They must be charged, using power sources such as coal, oil, and natural gas. The lithium ore that is mined produces a battery that is a mere 1/500th of the weight. The rest is waste product and tons of sulfur salts. The lithium is not a renewable resource. Oil and natural gas is. Shipping all that material around to make the battery uses ships, railways, and trucks that burn oil products for fuel. The batteries have a limited lifespan and cannot be repaired. They must be discarded.

Add to all that the hours it takes to charge the car, plus the stress in the grid, which must be massively expanded to handle more EVs.

Live in an apartment? No place to charge your EV!

Are you going to mindlessly go down this road again???!? Electric cars were first developed in 1832. They are not new technology. It is YOU wanting to go back to inefficient cars.

i wouldnt think so either but who knows what hes working on next. head count will certainly go down.

Tesla I think is going to pay big for never figuring out how to manufacture cars well. And even though Tesla is the one making most of Elons wealth he has little time to work on problems. And it looks to me like the regulators are about to hammer Tesla over "self driving".

Also, Tesla set up in Germany at exactly the wrong time.

will just have to see how he deals with the left.

german EVs flopping badly, hes ok there.

Manufacturing in Europe has gotten very difficult with the energy shortage, which hammers Tesla from every direction, and will likely get much worse next year.
