Automaker Stellantis to Idle Illinois Plant, Citing Rising Electric Vehicle Productio

Manufacturing in Europe has gotten very difficult with the energy shortage, which hammers Tesla from every direction, and will likely get much worse next year.

same playing field favors Tesla. growth slower overall certainly, there is a recession to boot, but I like his chances.

China for instance has been very clear that they are not going to allow an energy shortage to develop, fuck global warming...there is no level playing field. Anyone currently manufacturing in Europe is at a steep disadvantage.

EVs are essentially the same price as the pollution-belching ICEs.Compare a Bolt to a Rolls Royce . Which costs more? That is how silly those claims are.

So now you want to compare apples to oranges. Compare a EV to my chevy malibu with a 4 cylinder

In debates you should stay on topic. Of course that never happens

I am a free mind/free speech absolutist, I have no use for authoritarians. Also, at best, which is all too rare, what we do here is conversation. Almost no one this deeply into this dark age is interested in debates.

Yet this is called a debate forum

will just have to see how he deals with the left.

german EVs flopping badly, hes ok there.

It's awfully difficult to manufacture cars, even electric cars, without the fuel to do it. Germany is rather short on that at the moment, at least until they can get their coal plants operating again.

Random statements are pointless. That is not a conversation. If you want to be 'free' and ignore the conversation to make random statements, that's your choice, but don't expect anyone to listen to it.

I am going to stop reading your posts of you dont start providing value.

you were referring to Europe. the field is lever there for all players.

but it does not appear that the start date is right this minute.

That is true. It is future plans, due to the EU wanting to require EVs for everyone. The problems Germany is facing today are part of the same problem. The EU is facing some real problems right now, and much of it is a direct result of it's abusive policies.

America is not going to let Jeep just die. There are a lot of people that love their Jeeps. Just as the Subaru fans are not going to do without their Subarus- but that is a different company. Jeeps and Subarus are really both niche' markets.

Since Jeeps are normally used for BRAVADO, recreation, off-roading, vacationing, and etc., I knew they were going to be the last of the manufacturers to get on the EV game plan, because they are considered luxury items, to most working class families. They tend to be in the same market as RV's which is also a luxury item to most hard working families.

So really, it is Fiat that has the major problem here. What Fiat is doing here is looking for a new American partner to invest in them, and at the same time, looking for the US Government to help save their American footprint and the American Jobs that goes along with it.

Fiat will get what they want, either with a New Partner to save them, or the US government will end up setting up a Bailout for them, that will include an agreement to keep making the EV's, and will include a pay-back commitment to the US government.

So everybody just relax- THIS IS THE AUTO INDUSTRY WE ARE TALKIN' ABOUT HERE.

And the US most always comes to the rescue to save these kinds of jobs.

I kind of like the way that FIAT is handling this! Brilliant really! They are laying things on the line and asking for help!

That's all!
Looks like they're simply avoiding the UAW, as they are moving production to Mexico.

When I ordered a Promaster a few years ago, it was manufactured in Italy by Fiat, and shipped here for 'finishing'. It took a fuckin year to deliver. That was in '18 before Covid. Took delivery in '19.

I'm not sure how much of the work is being done here on Jeeps? I wonder if they follow the same routine as my van?

But the article is correct...hybrids are the way to go. EV has a long way to go here, especially given the gross lack of charging infrastructure for those who are far from home. I have a client who just got a Tesla rental while her vehicle was in the shop. She damn near had to sleep on the side of the road.

So, Fiat is sayin' without slave wages- WE CAN'T GET ER' DONE!

Well, then great. Cheapskates have to move to somewhere else- like Mexico who have slum wages.

We have good wages and benefits here in America! If you don't measure up- GET THE FUCK OUT ANYWAY! RIGHT!

And every other Automaker around the world who moved their plants here are happy to pay good US wages!

We'll just create a new tariff on imported Vehicles from Mexico and Italy just for them!

There is more than one way to skin a POLECAT!
