Best Movie Ranking for my Lifespan

My bf didn't like it. Don't tell anyone. This is invisible too like your wall, right? You are so amazing how you can do those magical things. Sometimes I think about all of the things we write that no one else can see because you made us invisible, and I laugh and I laugh and I laugh.

Anyway, he's not stupid, it just wasn't his cup of tea. Two of my friends actively hated it. Weird.

darla some people just arent as elite as us. We just have to realize not everyone is on our level.

Gone With the Wind probably defines so-called "chick flick" and it won oscars. I will have to think of some other ones.

The problem also is that you view any movie that is good as a dude flick.

you had some good ones, especially in the early years. Apparently your taste became a bit warped in the late 90's and your picks started falling apart. (though you did have a couple blips in the late 80's).

Field of Dreams? LMAO...
Raising Arizona? Please
Sling Blade? good god....
Ocean's eleven? ... a horrid remake of the original

What's wrong w/ Field of Dreams? That movie is perfect, imo. Of course, I was pretty stoned during the 1st viewing, but have seen it many times since, and it's been just as great. (as opposed to, say, "The Doors," which I thought was genius when I first saw it stoned; I saw it years later w/out the benefit of mind alteration, and realized it was really, really bad).

I've gotta say, Dixie's list wasn't that bad. Lots of "rewatchability" factor in there....

I'm currently stuck between The Expendables and Red Dawn for my 2010.

Go with Expendables, as it looks decent. Red Dawn will, by definition, suck, because its Red Dawn.

As for the discussion going about Breakfast Club and Eternal Sunshine, I think Breakfast is an excellent film. Just watched it a month ago on Demand after being WTFed at for admitting to not having seen it by a friend. Haven't seen Eternal, though, so I can't comment.

I honestly wish I could come up with a phrase that is as dismissive and contempt-filled as "chick flick" to describe movies that are testosterone-fueled daydreams for men who like to spend two hours in the dark fantasizing that they're Batman before going back to their accounting jobs.

Actually, its closer to 3 hours in length. PWNED.

because everyone knows dicks are actually worth something.

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!

I'm sure you're well aware of what ends in that direction =======>

Kindly see yourself that way.

Moon in my opinion, is a tragically underestimated film.

If peeing into a radiator (highlight of the film) is so creative to you that it makes the entire film worthwhile (perhaps you can also throw in the opening paratrooper landing and the teacher getting shot), then more power to you. I will say, however, that the only thing which ends in any given direction, as a result of not liking the film, is boredom and incessant facepalming.

I happen to rate it as well, George Lazenby was by no means as bad as many critics would have you believe, Diana Rigg was very good as well. Shame she had to die, but understandable as a married Bond hardly works.

IMDB gives it a rating of 6.9 which is I think is very fair for a Bond film.

I just been watching The Living Daylights again, I must say I had forgotten that it's a damned good film. The only real low in the film is the ludicrous car chase scene especially with the laser and the police car.

I can agree to everything on the list EXCEPT Titanic, Casino Royale, and Harry Potter. Seriously, WTF?

Edit: upon further consideration, I can understand your selection of Titanic. The special effects were awesome for '97 and seeing Kate Winslet's titties was definitely the highlight of my 13th year.

2006 was a weak year. Normally, I would say that the only two Bond films worthy of accolades are On Her Majesty's Secret Service and From Russia With Love.

Titanic is an extraordinarily well-made and well-acted film. Its a masterpiece in film-making, and it impacted the world around it as it was playing like few other films have done. Yes, its a sappy chick flick with a strange interpretation of people living in 1912.

I watched the Prestige, again, the other night, it is a good movie.

Snatch is awesome. I'm not really into movies like Departed, but I could definitely give it a "best of" award for the acting, directing, etc. I don't think I've ever sat through the whole thing, though...

Don't think I had seen Thank You for Smoking when I made the list. So, yeah, I'm going to go with Thank You. Aaron Eckhart is fucking awesome at everything he does.

I may have to switch Departed for V for Vendetta.

I like your original list and think it was well thought out. The only thing I would change would be to swap out Good Will Hunting, wherever it would go.
To me, that was a life-changing flick, and close to home on several levels.

A Matt Damon movie? I'm sorry, but no.
