Best places to live

No they are not, they like boring. They even think the Germans are not orderly enough. The only part of Switzerland that escapes Swiss small mindedness is Ticino which is the only canton that speaks Italian.

yeah it comes from that high percentage of gun ownership?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_invented_the_political_philosophy_known_as_fascism

Benito Mussolini is usually credited with writing The Doctrine of Fascism (though many scholars believe he didn't write it, but was called the author because he was the party leader). This book is the first, and really the only book about fascist theory.

Fascism has long roots.

Like I said. Criminal elements hung him. The people were behind him. Especially in Northern Italy and later schools taught nothing but good things about Mussolini. Even in the south.

Look you little Fascist idiot, the man is known in history, along with Hitler, Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot, as one of the most brutal dictators of all time. You attempting to rewrite history and paint Mussolini in a positive light, is outright laughable. The man was a TYRANT, overthrown by his own people and executed. Not much different than Saddam Hussein, except that Hussein was given a trial by jury first. As for government propaganda, they still teach Chinese kids that Mao was a great leader! We can't put much stock in that.

It's worth repeatedly noting, THIS IS WHO THE LIBERAL LEFT HOLDS UP AS THEIR HEROES!

'Nuff said!

That should be time enough, although it's getting towards Xmas so maybe you should pre-book hotels before arriving. That drive is spectacular especially from Brig to Lugano, if you like hairpin bends then you will be in paradise. The Nufenen Pass gets up to over 8000 ft so bring some oxygen!!
Wow! A whole 8,000 feet. I have lived in a town that was at 8600 feet.

When you get the best of an American liberal, they quote Mark Twain,
When you get the best of a British liberal, they quote Oscar Wilde.

Why is that?

You really think Tom is the best of british liberals?

Who is the best of american liberals?

Tom is a British NULAB socialist, there is no best of when in comes to NULAB socialists.

Oscar Wilde was a child sex pervert.
Many in the lib Dems are also child sex perverts, Liberal Democrats are the third party in the UK.
Their platform is legalizing sex with children and handing sovereignty to the EUssr.
Oh and being a good way to spoil your ballot!

Switzerland is a very pretty place and all that, but Swiss people are very boring and shallow in the main. The list of things that are banned are just mindboggling, oh and it's damned expensive to boot.
The list is subjective as hell. Shoot Singapore and Hong Kong aren't really nations so much as City/States. I've been to Canada many times and it's absolutely beautiful there but it's also too damned cold for to much of the year. Hell half the top 10 in this list are in places far to cold for me. The list is based almost completely on subjective values and not on geography, topograpy, climate, culture, opportunity, etc, etc. Nor does it consider personal circumstances. I mean some of these selections don't make sense. Population density has a significant impact on quality of life. Hong Kong is a great city, I've been there once and my sister in law lives there but no way in hell would I want to live in that over crowded megalopolis.

Yet I am Italian and everyone I spoke to from the Mussolini era had nothing but good things to say about him? Can you be a victim of indoctrination via mis-information(Aka -lies)?
Specious logic to say the least. I come from a region where German catholic immigrants predominate. Many only 1 or 2 generations removed from the old country and a hell of a lot of them think of Hitler as being a very misunderstood leader who did a lot of good for Germany and that his policies were quite justified at the time (never mind those policies included exterminating whole races of people). Of course that's a total crock of shit but it's what those bead jiggling Krauts believe.

I spent a week in Switzerland back in 95. I can remember on a Saturday morning in downtown Leibstadt I was at a pedestrian crossing. There was about 10 people on my side of the road and 10 people on the opposite side. The traffic light was red and there was not a motor vehicle visible up and down the road as far as the eye could see. I was the only person who crossed the road while it was red and I recieved quite a few sour looks for doing so. My main rememberence of the Swiss people were that they were kind, gracious, very polite and not the least bit hospitable. I don't think a single Swiss even attempted to engage me in a conversation that was work/business related the entire week I was there. I didn't even so much as get an invite to go have a beer from the people I was working with. I was warned when I went over there to down play my American gregariousness as it wouldn't fly well in Switzerland.

That's why I like Italian Switzerland, the people are more like Italians but everything works properly. It is amaziing to see people standing at a traffic light even when there is no traffic. Germany is like that as well, I believe they can get fined which is why they don't cross but it is also the concept of Ordnung which is deeply ingrained. The Swiss are just very gregarious especially in German Switzerland, too busy counting their money.

The list is subjective as $&@#. Shoot Singapore and Hong Kong aren't really nations so much as City/States. I've been to Canada many times and it's absolutely beautiful there but it's also too €£¥#% cold for to much of the year. €£¥# half the top 10 in this list are in places far to cold for me. I was thinking this very thing when I was reading this thread. The best place to live depends on the person who is choosing to live there. I look at it kind of like when someone says I'm voting against my own best interests. How do they know what my "best interests" are. That kind of speak might work if I was an adolescent.

If I had to live in a city you might as well shoot me in the head. Hunting and fishing are two things I am very passionate about. I know some folks don't really understand this but if I didn't have the means (while hunting is allowed in various countries, hunting is often way too expensive for the common person) or the opportunity (in many places in the US there are often no or very little public forests/lands where hunting is allowed so the expense is rising every year) to hunt or fish (my buddy is in Japan for a while...fishing, like a lot of things is super expensive there and elsewhere) you might as well pu me in the loony bin. I have been all over the US and to not a few countries in the northern hemisphere (Austraila is on my short list of future trips) and SE OK is the best place for me to live relative to my needs/likes and how I want to raise my family. Choosing to live here I turned down a job paying $60,000 per year and took one paying just under $20,000 per year when I was 21. It was absolutely not about money and all about geography for me. I don't regret that decision one bit 25 years later.
