Biggest decline in US productivity in 74 years

Did shutting down the economy (covid lockdowns) "raise average productivity"?

Many historians and economists will tell you that the Black Death contributed, or even caused, the sudden growth in productivity that went on to produce the industrial revolution. There is a real chance that Covid will cause amazing long term rises in productivity.

People are refusing to take low paying, unpleasant jobs. The obvious solution is to automate as much as possible of those jobs, that way raising productivity. That way you can pay fewer workers more to produce more products. The other obvious solution is to just cut staff, and try to figure out a way to make fewer people do more. If you have been to a movie theater lately, you know what I mean. That too raises productivity.

These are just possibilities, but we will not know for sure for years to come.

You can't produce software without hardware.

You can produce software for hardware that other people produce and sell.

BULLSHIT.

Advising on hiring programmers is one of my main side gigs. No one is throwing all their programmers out every year.

It has also been driven out of several major markets. They are currently losing the desktop market, particularly for development workstations.

God, I wish Microsoft was losing the desktop market, but that is not reality.

Pandemics have not been part of economics for so long, economists seriously do not have the answers to your questions. When the answers are not known, I give the honest answer, it is not known yet.
Evasion. Answer the question put to you. Apparently you have no intention of answering the question.
It is going to be interesting to read the papers that are written on this subject over the next couple of decades.
So you admit to reading the Fake News. Gotit.
The rest of Nights post goes downhill from the original stupidity.
Cliche fallacy. Insult fallacy.

I have answered the question as put to me. No one knows for sure yet. We do not know is a legitimate, and honest answer.

I have been questioned by just about every type of lawyer and investigator, and know that if we do not know, just say that. Do not lie and claim to know what you do not know.

I have given the most reasonable theory as to what will happen to productivity due to Covid. Maybe calling it a theory is too strong, but it is a reasonable possibility.

Seems people are working longer and producing less than ever...

Seems the economy is tanking and we have the Democrats and Joke to thank for it. FJB!

Yeah, it says in your article the cause is the correlation between worker pay and their productivity, i.e., they're being paid more. They got raises, which fuels the inflation. I know you twuptards hate it when workers get raises, or try to vote or get an abortion.

Sorry you're authoritarian handmaids tale utopia are going away, twumptard.

Need a tissue?

Another round of bailouts is in the making.

I hope so! I'm going to spend mine on a new computer so I can play that "queer" game as you call it - "Fantasy Football".

Your line, "Nothing is more queer than Fantasy Football". I mean, seriously, I laughed for an hour. To bad, as always, it was "at" you and not "with" you.

Say something else funny by mistake, please. I need another laugh :)

I'm paraphrasing from a WSJ article today but with rising productivity companies can raise wages without having to raise prices and cause inflation. Right now we're paying workers more to produce less. Far from ideal.

All your twumptard wealthy buds got raises with twump's tax cuts. I'm sorry it erks trump fans so when the little people get raises, too.

Economy is stronger than ever, and after decades of being squeezed for every drop of productivity for slave wages...productivity is dropping?

That's cute.

Productivity is not, "dropping". It's even or slightly increased but was eclipsed buy wages which is the formula deriving the productivity metric. In short, workers got raises. It's a good thing. It may cause inflation in the short term but as the economy always does after a - minimum wage increase for example - it will equalize. How do I know this? It always has.

I suspect that the Big Problem is that there are loads of well paid full of themselves ( I am going to make the world a better place, through force!) white collar corporate types who dont contribute much to the cause. I am expecting huge numbers of them to be put on the street over the next two years.

Oh, good! You're have an audience for your naked twumptard street corner rants!

You must be excited!

Its not just that the bureaucrats dont produce anything, they are even worse, they get in the way of those who do produce.

Regarding what you just produced. Have you changed pants yet, or do you prefer to sit and stew in it all day?

I mean - to each their own, twumptard.

Productivity was rising until Joke took office. Now it's falling...

Then why are we all richer and happier? I just paid almost a dollar less for gas today than I did a month ago.

Sorry for the good news, Mary. Hey, cheer up, there might be another attack on the FBI soon! Chin up, Nazi dirtbag!

These under 40 workers who have spent the last few years all "Well I am not sure if I can work here if this corporation does not support my WOKE values" making shit tons of trouble for the company as they do are now facing "Just what is it that you contribute to this operation?".

For far too many the answer is "Not much, not much at all".

At least they're working and bettering themselves. Corporations are less loyal as well, very few pensions or retirement plans offered and health plans are almost all deductible.

So if you were aware of this changing situation, gramps, you'd understand why young workers aren't that loyal any longer either. No more of those, "golden handcuffs" our dads got are being offered any longer.

Always willing to help out a brain trauma victim, idiot.
