Boris Johnson humiliated.

When Brexit fails Bozzie will be the most reviled Brit since Chamberlain. His only hope is for it to be cancelled.

The UK had an overall trade deficit of -£64 billion with the EU in 2018. A surplus of £29 billion on trade in services was outweighed by a deficit of -£93 billion on trade in goods.

So in the coming trade negotiations, the EU is going to hold out for high tariffs on goods?

It's not all bad news, though; the UK had a trade surplus of £44 billion with non-EU countries.

As none of the Brexiteers seem to grasp, despite their own example, the EU is made up of many countries with different interests, and now one common one - seeing the UK shall in no way become an example of a country's benefitting from leaving the club. Obvious, really, to all but Brexiteers.

What it all comes down to is obsessive ambition amongst tory politicians. If you want to have some sort of future, you don't ask woolly questions and then try to bully half the population into whatever ludicrous interpretation your career-needs suggest. The whole silly nonsense was all meant to decide previous troy gun-fights, but happened to hit a mood of public bloody-mindedness which created this mess. It would be quicker, I think, simply to abolish the UK and see if we can come up with something more sensible.

MPs are "shattering trust in democracy" by paralysing the delivery of the referendum result, the former Lord Chief Justice has claimed.

Lord Judge said the "crucial issue" in the debate over Britain's exit from the European Union is no longer the terms of the withdrawal agreement, but the "profound damage" to the public's confidence in their politicians.

"What the majority of the public, whether they voted for or against Brexit, cannot understand is why we the politicians have not resolved the issue," said Lord Judge, who headed the judiciary in England and Wales between 2008 and 2013.

"They voted in a referendum, they voted at a general election in which both main parties went to the country promising to honour the result, and the public is still waiting."

It would be nice if some of these people could be specific about what they think the Referendum actually meant by 'Leave', and hold a Referendum on that. I think I'd be happy to bet considerable sums that any specific proposal would lose: it was an emotional, not a rational vote.

Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party has a clear lead in UK election polls

With a new U.K. election cycle about to begin, some voter polls and British bookmakers are already suggesting that the ruling Conservative Party will win a clear majority in Parliament.
A vote on whether to hold an election on or around December 12 has not yet taken place in Westminster on Tuesday. But a significant barrier to the motion being approved was removed when the opposition Labour party said it would back an early poll amid continuing uncertainty over Brexit.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said in a statement Tuesday morning that he was satisfied that conditions had been met to go to the polls before Christmas.
“I have consistently said that we are ready for an election and our support is subject to a no-deal Brexit being off the table,” Corbyn told his senior colleagues.
Polls show that a snap vote might not end well for the party, however, and there appeared to be rumblings of discontent among some Labour lawmakers on Tuesday, ahead of the vote.

The Britain Elects poll tracker that aggregates various voter opinion polls, updated on Sunday, puts the ruling Conservative Party (that does not have a majority in Parliament) ahead in the polls, with 35.1% of the vote.
Labour stands seconds with 25.4% and the Liberal Democrats, a staunchly anti-Brexit party, is seen third with 18.1% of the vote. The Brexit Party, a new rival to the Conservatives among Brexit supporters, is seen with 11.3% of the vote and the Green Party with 4%.

An individual poll conducted by YouGov and The Times newspaper on October 21-22 of 1,689 people put the Conservative Party ahead with 37% of the vote, Labour with 22% and the Liberal Democrats with 19% of the vote.
