Burma

Damo I twisted absolutely nothing..........

One more time, boycotting the Chinese Olympics isn't war. And if we declare war then 'war is cool'.

I find it funny how you have to twist and misrepresent my position to come up with inanities like this one.

everyone in here says boycott and do dialog...then when it is done and the people suffer rather than the intended ..it is always our fault...the War Hawks!
Damned if you do damed if you don't..how many years and lives were lost dialogiing with Saddams regeim? Way more than collateral damage ever did...either act like a Super Power or stay the hell out! If ya go in ...go in to win ,all out war...Take WWII for example the gloves were off and the war ended in 4 1/2 years ...after we entered! Albeit the public was on the militaries side!... there were no anti-war protestors after the entry... only full support... and many lives were spared because of this!

Y'all can sip the 'Pink Tea' all you want...but it will only extend the inevitable and cost many more lives...wake up!

The Chinese Olympics would not make Burma suffer. They are a tool for the Chinese to show the world how awesome they are. If the entire western world boycotts them, nobody will be worse off in Burma. But if we use them to twist the Chinese arm a bit we can likely get them to put real pressure on the Burmese government that can make a real difference.

You are being deliberately obtuse and actually not reading the posts. This is sad, truly sad.

While war is often a necessary evil, it is not necessary here because we have tools we can use to change things using other methods.

War is not the only option. The world doesn't function in "war" and "not war" modes.

***sigh***

No damo...you are the obtuse one...drunk on running for a local office...this was tried against Russia...the old USSR...and what was gained?...Nothing! and nothing will come of a boycott either...just fantasy dreaming!

One more time. I am not running for office. My wife and I thought about it and decided against it. Unless, of course, nobody else enters the race before January.

You are again mistaking the goal.

The goal is to get the Chinese to add some pressure to the Burmese government, not to change China or reflect on their policy. Since they are desperate to show how "modern" and "good" they are, a boycott will effect them. They will add pressure to Burma in order to get the US and allies to participate in their Olympics. We must use the tool to gain the vote in the UN as well, if that becomes necessary.

The boycott of their Olympics can make the difference, not attempting it would certainly not.

Don't even think about it..............

DD...I see your nonsense coming before it even is posted!

How many people took the the streets in Iraq to protest for democracy? People in Burma are even knowing that the government is oppresive and may massacre them. In '88 they killed over 3000 protestors. This time around, we have no indication of the actual number, but we know bullets were fired at unarmed civilians and journalists, and to cover it up, they cut internet access. The people want change, where in Iraq, they were content.

We attack them, we upset the region and may begin another World War and end up taking on China, Russia, and India. We also have thousands of more deaths and tens of thousands of injuries.

We twist the arm of China, and they enforce and arms embargo, the central government weakens and the fear tactics they use to control their own military will no longer be effective.

The old safe way out...remember I ran for office twice...lol
What has that to do with me running for office? I am not currently, nor do I really plan to run for office at this time. I will if the only candidate is the current one, because he is an idiot.

Like I posted...........

Nobody has called you that, except yourself. You attempt to treat me like an "enemy" because we disagree on this issue. But it is foolish to say that we should bring war to Burma because of this. There is a better way to fix this than starting WWIII.

Everything damo.............

Take the easiest road...but that will not get one elected...either be a strong right or strong left...anything in the middle is a waste of time...people don't take kindly to wishy washee people...just a fact of life...take a side and take your bumps!

are you DD?..I am me and stay me on all issues...no troll here! Thats what I was talking about middle ground are always losers...I just gave you a little advice..in case you decided to make a run!

Darla, thought this might interest you..

"Even our political partisanship seems unable to resist the call of the sangha; members of Code Pink, a radical anti-Iraq war group, joined the protests and announced their admiration for President Bush’s strong stance against Burma."

http://www.mizzima.com/MizzimaNews/EdOp/2007/October/01-Oct-07.html

I doubt they announced anything like that, but I"m glad that they are out in DC. The NY branch is going to do something this Saturday, which is "Global action day on Burma".

If I do run, I will likely run far right. That is what will win in my area. I already stated this, but you clearly don't read. Of course, not promoting war in Burma is "lefty" to you somehow.

I always give..........

Do you have anything to add or are you just going to continue being stupid?

My opinion based on real life experience...I don't bounce around on any issues...I stick my ground...something about being a vet...only retreat and reorganize for another offensive...the only way to win...carry on a carrying on if thats your bag!

We are fighting for Freedom
Freedom and oil
Burma doesn't have enough of the second and not more than 12 americans care if they have enough of the first.
