Can the country be unified?

Where did I say you were lying? Do you think a person who truly believes they are speaking the truth but is clearly insane or severely mistaken is a "Liar"?

Thanks for your great post on Maryland Dem gerrymandering Owlwoman

That case got political gerrymandering to the SCOTUS

THEY FULL ON ADMITTED IT WAS POLITICAL IN NATURE

there is a reason they did that

I remember the debates about it at the time

Many Dems were pissed at them for it

Some were glad they did it

And then the right on the SCOTUS showed their colors

We don’t have a two party system

There are endless parties in the US

It’s just that the American voters CHOOSE to vote for two of them

The voters choice

What people claim is a two party system is not

There are no laws forcing people to only vote R or D

Why try to limit their choice

Who exactly would benifit from limiting the voters choice?

No one

Thanks. You're free to use the same name all my ex-wives and ex-GFs use: "Fucking Asshole". I won't take offense because I've heard it so much.

Example: "You may be a fucking asshole, but I like this post".

I don't think you can; and that's one of our biggest problems. If we can't stipulate basic facts like the definition of words, then there is no meeting place. The Republican party has been overwhelmed by brain dead robots who believe in literal conspiracy theories and flatly refuse to agree on what things happened and what things didn't. There's no way for rational people to work with people like that.

I blame a good deal of this on the media that the RWers choose to follow. For instance, our former neighbor down the road is a retired military guy who then worked 20 more years for security for the CDC as a government employee. They watched Fox exclusively. One day we were talking about how good it is that the last coal-fired electrical generating plant here was closed for good, and replaced by a much more efficient (and cleaner) natural gas plant. He dutifully repeated the nonsense that Obama's regulations stifled coal but Trump was working to get rid of those to restore coal to its rightful place. Mr. Owl mildly pointed out that it is market forces that caused the decline of coal, not regulations. The neighbor was in total disbelief. Mr. Owl (who could easily double for Spock in the computer-like brain area) cited facts and figures from the Wall Street Journal. You could see the wheels turning and the guy beginning to realize that maybe what he was told wasn't right.

That's what we are up against.
