Canada, Mexico Steelmakers Refuse New US Orders

The topic is coal use, and you don't have a case either way.
I'm not trying to make a case. YOU ARE. Quoting leftist propaganda won't work. The topic is Canadian and Mexican steel not taking contracts from the United States. Go read the OP again.
The majority of steel produced here doesn't use coal,
A fair amount is. They also use natural gas.
and thst is used is going away due to new technology.
Steel and how to make it is not new technology.
Your fallacy fallacy isn't relevant or correct.
Random words. No apparent coherency.

Well I was just reading this and as it says a lot of Americans do not realize how much electric we buy from Canada, and they could shut it off and do some real serious harm to this country.
Canada does not sell electricity to the United States. They don't control the ERIC, TRIC, or WRIC either.
As it is IF Trump puts his 25% tariffs on Canada it will drive up the cost of electric these American people need.
Canada does not sell electricity to the United States. Stop quoting leftist bullshit from MSNBC. Pravda is lying to you.

Here is some of the article
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration website, the states that use Canadian electricity are New York, including New York City, the Upper Midwest states of North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota, as well as most of New England, including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
Dead wrong. Each of these states and the SOTNY generate their own electricity.

Some idiot actually claimed we depend on Canada for electricity? lol that's hilarious.

For the better part of two decades, Canada has exported significantly more electricity to the United States than it imported. However, in the fall of 2023, electricity trade between the two countries became more balanced. The shift was due partly to Canada’s reduced hydropower generation, the country’s primary source of electricity generation, as drought conditions reduced inflow to reservoirs in western Canada. In addition, lower natural gas prices in the United States reduced power prices, making U.S. electricity more competitive.

Monthly average exports from the United States to Canada in 2023 increased 70% on a year-over-year basis to 1,809 gigawatthours (GWh), while monthly average imports from Canada to the United States decreased by 36% to 3,315 GWh. In 2023, the United States remained a net importer of Canada’s power on an annual basis, but the amount of electricity received fell sharply from 42 terawatthours (TWh) in 2022 to 15 TWh in 2023. The decline in imports from Canada was large enough that by September 2023 the United States switched to become a net electricity exporter to Canada, which continued for five of the next nine months, according to EIA’s Quarterly Electricity Imports and Exports Report.

Electricity exchanges across the United States and Canada—historically each other’s largest electricity trading partners—remain relatively small, representing less than 1% of their respective total generation.

14 TWhs can be produced by two nuclear power plants; a typical nuke plant produces about 7.9 TWh. per year.
Canada does not sell electricity to the United States. The United States generates it's own power.

I really don't care that is their problem , point is they buy their electric from Canada
Canada does not sell electricity to the United States.
and when Trump puts his tariffs on the price will be going up at least the amount of the tariffs and that will hit them in the pocket book,
Canada does not sell electricity to the United States.
And if the Canadians shut it down like they are talking , and all it has to be is a week or 10 days it could cost us Billions in spoiled food, no Computers, no cell phones , no anything that runs on electric unless they have their own generator then that would only last till their fuel ran out.
The United States generates it's own power. They also control the ERIC, TRIC, and WRIC.
People won't be able to work. and that will hit them in the pocket book too.
Cars don't need an electrical grid to run. They generate their own electricity.
My point was again IF Trump puts his tariffs on not only will it drive the cost of that power up IF the Canadians shut it down it could cost us Billions and Billions .
Heck it could even run us into a deep recession more like a depression.
The Canadians cannot shut down the ERIC, TRIC, or WRIC.

Can't refute the facts, so snivel about the source, as if it's the only one saying it. lol

A fair amount is. They also use natural gas.

AS I said, coal use is dwindling and being replaced with natural gas and hydrogen. You're merely repeating the facts stated in that 'left wing propaganda I linked to. Coal isn't used to make the majority of steel production in the U.S.

Steel and how to make it is not new technology.

It us being upgraded by new engineering and fuel uses
Random words. No apparent coherency.

Random deflections, no rebuttals of anything. Fallacy fallacy.

The fact remains that if the 'climate change' peddlers were really concerned about their claims, they would be supporting Trump's on-shoring, not sniveling about it. They would be all for reducing foreign sources that use coal.

Seven. In addition, the SOTNY, the SOHI, and the SDTC have banned new construction of them.

They are going to have to build nuclear plants. Solar and wind aren't going to handle the increases needed for all the crap they want to electrify, from trucks, cars, AI, and industrial production.

Like I said, let them buy candles if they keep up with their fashion victim nonsense. It's past time for the adults to stop indulging the infantile rantings of Democrat dopers and Burb Brats.

Rubbish. They merely provide a little balancing during unpredictable peaks , same as we do for them. Those states that are using them for that are inflicting themselves with that problem. Trump has nothing to do with it. You're just parroting rubbish from your bosses, is all.

Example in New York:

Since the plant’s closure, it has been gas, rather then clean energy such as solar and wind, that has filled the void, leaving New York City in the embarrassing situation of seeing its planet-heating emissions jump in recent years to the point its power grid is now dirtier than Texas’s, as well as the US average.

:rofl2:

Well from the article I posted from the US government, it says they provide several stated in the mid west and other states in the upper north east.
Do you have a link showing other wise?

As you can see the info came from the US Energy information administration.

Not facts. Go learn what 'fact' means.
AS I said, coal use is dwindling and being replaced with natural gas and hydrogen. You're merely repeating the facts stated in that 'left wing propaganda I linked to. Coal isn't used to make the majority of steel production in the U.S.
Coal is still used in a lot of steel plants since it's a good source of carbon to make the alloy. It is also used in a lot of them to fire the blast furnace. So is natural gas. Hydrogen is not used because it doesn't have enough BTUs per volume. It also causes brittle steel.
It us being upgraded by new engineering and fuel uses
Same engineering. Not much to a blast furnace.
Random deflections, no rebuttals of anything. Fallacy fallacy.
Random words. No apparent coherency. Ignoring this portion.
The fact remains that if the 'climate change' peddlers were really concerned about their claims, they would be supporting Trump's on-shoring, not sniveling about it. They would be all for reducing foreign sources that use coal.
That they would, mostly because they don't understand how cleanly coal can be burned. But, they never do their homework.
We also use coal in the United States.

They are going to have to build nuclear plants.
Why? Nuclear power is not renewable energy. Natural gas, oil, and coal ARE renewable energy and even cheaper to build and operate. ALL of them can burn fuel quite cleanly these days.
Solar and wind aren't going to handle the increases needed for all the crap they want to electrify, from trucks, cars, AI, and industrial production.
That is correct. Solar and wind are piddle power. Solar is the most expensive method of generating electricity. Wind is the 2nd most expensive. Nuclear power plants are MUCH cheaper than either solar or wind!
Like I said, let them buy candles if they keep up with their fashion victim nonsense. It's past time for the adults to stop indulging the infantile rantings of Democrat dopers and Burb Brats.
I agree.
