I'm sure Republicans are motivated to conclude the investigation before the 2018 campaigns go into full swing. It would not look good for them to have that in the news at the same time. This is partisan politics in high gear.

And this is only the House investigation. This has nothing to do with Mueller or the Senate Intelligence Committee Investigation.

Also, there are likely to be two reports. One by the Republican members of this committee and another by the Democrats. The reports will come to differing conclusions. Essentially meaningless, sabotaged by the Republicans who do not want the Republican President ousted.

Any belief that this is the end of looking into possible collusion is premature.

Assad was the only candidate.. Syria was a failed state before the civil war broke out.. The oil and agriculture sectors has failed by 2010 and Russia did nothing to help.

Plus, there was serious unemployment, inflation and overpopulation.

The US did urge Assad to keep his promises of reforms that he made to the people in the three years before the conflict started.
