The supposed civil war was not a war over slavery.....it was a war between the Democrats and the Republicans. It was the democrats that supported slavery.....that went to war because under the tenants of the US CONSTITUTION (at that time) Slavery existed because it was legal as the majority of THE PEOPLE supported the laws that made it legal. So slavery in those 4 states was different than slavery in the others?

Missouri and Maryland ended slavery before the war ended. Kentucky and Delaware did not.
