Confederate Statues

There are millions who are descendants of slaves, although never having been slaves themselves, that still blame it for their failures while demanding whites that never owned slaves pay reparations for it.

Well, slavery was this country's Original Sin, and the second sin was not killing every single Southerner after the war.

Sherman had the right idea.

What is the culture and heritage other than treason and racism?

The 'culture' was a slave agricultural system. The 'heritage' was the men were 'native sons'.
I'm for removing the statues in a respectful way and putting them 'somewhere' ... like Museums or Battlefields, or Cemeteries.

How is history "destroyed" by removing a monument to someone who lost?

Do you need statues to Robert E. Lee to help you remember he was a traitor who lost?

How is history changed by people destroying property that doesn't belong to them?

Monuments to Thomas Jefferson and George Washington are up. When are the snowflakes going to start whining about them?

Here, this seems to be it:

https://www.ncleg.net/Sessions/2015/Bills/Senate/PDF/S22v5.pdf

The relevant language:

Approval Required. – Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b) of this section,
a monument, memorial, or work of art owned by the State may not be removed, relocated, or
altered in any way without the approval of the North Carolina Historical Commission.

That seems to allow what I'm talking about, as long as the offensive monument remains in place and isn't altered. Basically, a hard cap over it that doesn't actually touch it would be OK.

The NC Historical commission.

Doesn’t that make them legitimate historical artifacts?

Vandals tearing them down is a crime. Apparently that represents the disproportionately high level of black crime that exist today. 13% of the population yet commit 55% of the violent crimes.

You say it's a crime, I consider it an act of patriotism.

After all, the statues weren't of Americans. Those people turned their back on America and its Constitution. So tearing down statues of them is the patriotic thing to do.

The Taliban probably looked at the Buddhas of Bamiyan with the same hatred you do confederate statues, and they blew them up. But in so doing they destroyed cultural relics that are lost forever.

The Buddhas never enslaved an entire race of people. But you guys did. So why do you think tearing down monuments to traitors and racists is the equivalent of ISIS blowing up religious sculptures?

Look, you're a racist asshole. You tell me if you think slavery and the Confederacy had virtue. You don't need a statue to do that.

It's not my fault you incorrectly believe the war was about slavery.

I don't support slavery. However, based on what LBJ said, blacks have tended to make themselves slaves to the Democrats for 50 years now. Strange how they make excuses for it 150 years ago but keep themselves on the plantation voluntarily.

It's heritage. The Taliban probably looked at the Buddhas of Bamiyan with the same hatred you do confederate statues, and they blew them up. But in so doing they destroyed cultural relics that are lost forever.

Ahhh...so you think that Confederate Statues are "cultural relics"?

So what is the culture? Treason, slavery, racism, and losing.

You guys? How many people that owned slaves, in your best estimate, are alive today? How many people that were slaves, in your best estimate, are alive today?

What heritage?

Heritage of slavery, treason, and white supremacy.

That's a heritage worthy of a monument?

The Taliban shared their fee fees, said some bad things about the Buddhas before they blew them up too. Sorry, that's not good enough of an excuse.

Blacks were held back in the world. You racists think people that weren't aloud proper anything, from education, to financing, etc, are going to excel, and dig themselves out of poverty. It's because they were held back, that they are in the shape they are. Some of the older black generation sacrified damn near everything to try, and give their children a head up, and have the capability to excell in the world out there. So racists like CFM, should be glad to be privileged, because otherwise they'd be lucky to be scrubbing toilets at a Taco Bell.

Why do we need these statues at all?

There was nothing of virtue...and they lost.

The only way these things deserve to be in a museum is if they're melted down and used in the building's foundation.

The Buddhas never enslaved an entire race of people. But you guys did. So why do you think tearing down monuments to traitors and racists is the equivalent of ISIS blowing up religious sculptures?

"You guys"? I thought it was the Democrats.

No one with a brain cares what an avowed racist thinks about anything to do with race....or much of anything really
