Conservatives ban guns at CPAC; impose gun-free "safe space"

Looks like the "it's their policy" excuse is a convenient cop-out for cons who claim to support the Constitution:

Boycott-List-2014.09.22.png

Again that isn't my read on the US CONSTITUTION. so..........

They do? What "law" bans guns at the CPAC conference or the GOP convention?

"Title 18 United States Code Sections 3056 and 1752 provides the Secret Service authority to preclude firearms from entering sites visited by our protectees, including those located in open-carry states," Secret Service spokesman Robert K. Hoback said in a statement. "Only authorized law enforcement personnel working in conjunction with the Secret Service for a particular event may carry a firearm inside of the protected site."

According to the policy on their website, "firearms and other weapons of any kind are strictly forbidden on the premises of Quicken Loans Arena."

Ohio law says those with concealed carry permits may legally carry firearms, if they are holstered.

How surprising to find another Rightie ignorant of the law.

That covers the CPAC conference?

The Code doesn't ban guns, Blabo. It give the SS the authority to do so. How come you're not blubbering about government overreach trampling the Second Amendment?

And just because the SS has the authority to preclude firearms, they don't have to exercise it.

Maybe Trump - the strong leader who says gun-free zones are "bait" - should stand up for the gun rights of his supporters and ask them to allow them to open carry.

If the arena won't allow it (and since when has a con pretended that a gun-free policy is a deterrent) Trump should demand that it be rescinded or move the convention to a Trump-owned facility.

Isn't that what a strong leader would do, Blabo?

Yep....

the United States Secret Service is authorized to protect the following persons:

(7) Major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates and, within 120 days of the general Presidential election, the spouses of such candidates. As used in this paragraph, the term “major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates” means those individuals identified as such by the Secretary of Homeland Security after consultation with an advisory committee consisting of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the minority leader of the House of Representatives, the majority and minority leaders of the Senate, and one additional member selected by the other members of the committee. The Committee shall not be subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (5 U.S.C. App.

And the SS did ban guns......

You do enough blubbering for both of us

Trump has no power to break gov. laws or regulations....He can't demand anything.

I didn't know Wayne LaPierre was a candidate. :dunno:

And you managed to ignore the fact that the SS is not required to ban guns...the Code gives them the authority. It does not mandate that they use it, does, it?

Wayne LaPierre was also among the speakers. He raged against gun free zones, in a gun free zone.

Again, I can't find any reference to a requirement to ban guns when a protectee is present. You keep ignoring that fact.

As far as I know, the SS is not required to ban guns by the Code. They are authorized to do so, but I don't see a requirement. Do you?

If cons really believed that open carry makes the world safer, why wouldn't they ask the SS not to ban guns when they speak? :dunno:
