It doesn't. It's covered by the 14th Amendment's "Equal protection clause". Because the Federal government grants over 1100 Federal rights and benefits to married couples, it becomes a conflict when they ban consenting adults to marry.

The solution is to either get rid of the Federal rights and benefits regarding marriages, parents, etc or to allow all the same recognition of all marriages for those Federal rights and benefits.
