Undoubtedly, CDC, WHO, state health agencies always calculate mortality due to seasonal influenza complications the same way they do for COVID flu complications.
So Darth's motivations for trying to belatedly change the rules at the last minute and as the death toll grew is utterly transparent
Trump keeps predicting "covid, covid, covid" will disappear after the election but what will disappear, except among the truly insane, are the attacks on science and common sense.
FWIW, I'm going to lose betting money if Trump loses the election but I still have a shot on winning that he resigns before the end of his term.
That said, even though Trump probably won't show for Biden's inauguration, I strongly doubt Trump will resign. He'll probably go to Florida for Thanksgiving and never come back.

Anyone claiming there is a Deep State is either a liar or is a few tea bags short of a full pot.
Trump constant statements against mask-wearing and social distancing made many dismiss them. They wandered around d without them and spread it and caught it. Trump's words killed people.
Trump, as POTUS, failed his country for the reasons you mentioned but claiming he "killed" them is silly for two reasons: 1) Common sense and 2) more importantly, it negates Freedom of Choice and/or Free Will. Those people chose to follow Trump's stupid advice. Even if they only passed the disease along to kill their parents or grandparents, it's still their choice.
As Trump found out, catching COVID is not by choice, but being stupid about it increases one's chances of infection.
It is getting worse due to Trump. He mishandled the virus due to his mental and emotional shortcomings. He told Woodward in Feb, he knew it was worse than seasonal flus and far more transmissible. He suggested not wearing masks and opening up the economy. Trump is responsible for many deaths. He figured opening up would help him win the election. That is what he cared about. The people dying so he could stay in office, no big deal. He did it with ease.

It seems beyond any doubt that when Trump is kicked out of office January 20, there will be more than 300,000 dead since last spring.
I bet he wishes this thread would just go away -- almost as much as we sane people have hoped that #COVID45 would go away.

Darth has repeatedly proved he's a follower, not a leader. Which, for him, is good since he's not very bright.
He often bragged about his career in "the medical field," yet when the pandemic hit, he was furloughed as a non-essential worker, and later said that he eventually retired. That's not why I wonder about his smarts though. It's his penchant for glomming onto cray-cray conspiracy theories for and against the #LOSER45, and how he actively promotes them and seems unable to accept reality.
How on earth does one get laid of from the medical field in the middle of a pandemic? Medical work is the most essential of the essential workers.
