I don't know if Trump has the conviction it takes to be a dedicated fascist. At a minimum, however, he's an authoritarian, provided the authoritarian is himself.

He certainly lacks the intelligence and sanity.

My guess is that, had he succeeded in overthrowing the United States, his Praetorian Guard of WSE militias would have capped him within the year.

Fascism is a word coined by Mussolini to describe his particular brand of socialism. Hitler also embraced it. The word itself comes from 'fasce' or 'bundle'. Fascism is government manipulation of markets. Communism is government ownership of markets. Both are forms of socialism. Karl Marx mentions fascism as a stepping stone on the way to communism.

In other words, like Democrats want today, socialism. Fascism is what Democrats WANT. Since all forms of socialism are theft of wealth, implementing fascism generally requires the use of an oligarchy or dictatorship. People don't like their wealth stolen. Both fascism and communism make use of an 'elite' that is immune to the tyranny, and indeed are the thieves stealing the wealth.

The concept behind fascism extends back to before recorded history, just like communism. In each and every case, it brings nothing but misery and suffering.

Examples of fascism in The Oligarchy today:
* manipulation of the automotive market to ban gasoline engines and require electric cars.
* manipulation of the energy market to encourage wind and solar power and to discourage the use of coal, oil, natural gas, or nuclear power, and even in some cases hydroelectric power.
* manipulation of the housing market in the form of rent controls, excessive regulations, and requiring 'green' building materials.
* manipulation of the weapons market by banning 'unacceptable' weapons.
* manipulation of the lighting market by banning incandescent light bulbs, and excessive regulations concerning fluorescent lighting.
* manipulation of the plumbing market by requiring 'low water use' devices.

All of these are fascism, or the manipulation of markets by government.
Fascism and tyranny go hand in hand.
