‘Dilbert’ dropped by The Post, other papers, after cartoonist’s racist rant

attachment.php

This is precisely what's happening in South Africa, there's going to be a war there before too long.

Dilbert was missing from my Hearst newspaper this morning. It was one of my favorite strips--we can all identify with some of the characters from our own work places.

I don't like to boycott a good business because I disagree with their political views. It hurts a lot of good people. And, we don't know the political views of most of the businesses we use.

Ahh, but when one is presented with such blatant bigotry by a successful member of that business, we have a choice....pretend it doesn't exist and continue to support that person by purchasing his product carrier or refuse to buy it unless the carrier ousts that person.

It is what it is, and it's perfectly logical and just.

Spare us all this "cancel culture" cliche'.

The guy felt he could just go on a racist tirade and still sell his product to the general public.

He was wrong....the general public protested, the publications responded to their customers.

End of story.

It honestly doesn't effect me much at all, and I don't know why you're acting as if it does.

I want national health care and strong labor unions.
That's the kind of liberal I am.

You want people to walk on eggs and not hurt one another's feelings.
That's the kind of liberal you are.

It's all good and really not that big a deal--at least to me.

“If nearly half of all Blacks are not okay with White people … that’s a hate group,” Adams said on his live-streaming YouTube show. “I don’t want to have anything to do with them. And I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to White people is to get the hell away from Black people … because there is no fixing this.”

Doesn't sound very racist to me. Sounds like a sensible take about a group of black people who don't think it's okay to have a white skin color (MLK is rolling in his grave)

How many universities today follow that statement within their student body?

It's actually the individuals within the student body, not University rules, mandates or regulations.

When I was in college a LONG time ago, in wasn't unusual for various "minority" groups on campus to host their own holiday parties and events because they felt the majority students purposely ignored their input ... back in the days of a musical "culture wars" - rock vs. country/western vs. disco vs. soul vs. r&b vs. jazz vs. acid rock, etc., etc.

It was what it was, it is what it is, it will be what it will be.

Ditto for Hobby Lobby. Funny, I don't recall from Sunday School that "Christian ideals" included hating certain people and discriminating against them. It also didn't include buying priceless ancient artifacts that were stolen, as the Greenes did.

That Hobby Lobby deal pissed me off. That they still support the Bob Ross schools does the same...I wonder how Ross would have responded if he were still alive?

You have guaranteed and protected freedom of speech....you have no guaranteed of protection against the consequences of said speech. Deal with it.

I don't have to deal with anything, Tach...nobody did anything to me.

Different things bother different people. That's pretty much the gist of it from my perspective.

Doesn't change the fact that you are WRONG. You expressed a viewpoint who's premises in part does not logically or rationally pan out. I called you on it. Deal with it, or in your case claim that you won't/don't....then continue to do so with your commentary, posts and responses (i.e., contradiction).

We disagree, Tach. We'll probably always disagree. How you can conclude that my premises don't rationally pan out is a bit annoying, but that's ok too. Part of life is becoming annoyed from time to time.

Different things are important to me than are important to you. That's basically all that I'm trying to say, and that ABSOLUTELY IS true, isn't it?

Newspapers dropped the cartoon because of explicit racist rants of the cartoonist. Nothing to do with the comic strip. That's capitalism.

 My, but you can shovel a load when it suits you.

Of course it's a big deal that affects you to some degree....that is why you take time and effort to post as you do and respond to others. Me, if something doesn't affect me and it's no big deal, I don't post on that thread.

Here, your postings are a mixture of "NIMBY" liberal, Archie Bunker and crotchety old "hey you kids, get off my lawn!" man. Obviously, a part of your mental comfort zone has been disturbed.

I just take you to task for what you say...challenging you to defend your position or at least logically and rationally explain it ...that's what "liberals" like me do...make racists, bigots and social BS artist "walk on egg shells". God forgive me, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. ;) Carry on.
