My friend had to find a different field of work years ago because illegals lowered the price paid for installing a sheet of drywall to the point that he couldn't make a living at it. So there are more than one side to this story.

I had a lawn care service decades ago. My bids almost never accepted even though they were very thin profit margins involved (I was trying to build the business). I noticed that the services cutting those commercial lawns had very high Mexican labor. I didnt know back then that this labor was cheap versus hiring citizens. So I was paying more for labor which killed my chances at getting contracts. Again unintended but real consequences.

Btw if you cant find help at a price point pay more. Then pass the extra costs on to consumers. As long as everyone has to do the same (not one farm using illegals at the cheaper rate) then the market will adjust.

The difficulty is that you have the choice between allowing some erosion of labour-return or having some people living in heavily armed camps, shooting down anyone who dares come in or leaving them outside to starve. It seems to me that doesn't fit the notion of the USA that is put about, Anyway, capitalism will always find a way to use the cheapest labour available. Pity - several friends of mine live by dry-stone walling.

Easy to solve. Higher min wage,
Your implying other services were making no money if they were under-cutting your narrow margins Therefore they went out of business leaving it for you.
