ethically (and legally) appropriate application of deadly force

I live all over, I spend most of my time in Indy. Right now I am on Wright Patt AFB.

Back in the day I used to find these discussions very interesting on firearms forums. After Zimmerman they got so stupid I just quit hanging out on them. This case is a good example. It was widely accepted before Zimmerman it was not ethically appropriate for responsible gun owners (and illegal) to intentionally put myself in a situation that I had to kill someone.

:lolup:Liberal denial land; they all got stupid, not him. :rofl2:

That depends; first off, you are illegally trying to ensnare someone by walking around a bad area with money sticking out of your pocket like a dumbass.

So if someone tries to take your $100 bill and Rolex, how do you think that would go down? He would just politely ask you to hand them over?

What did Zimmie think when he strapped on and went out into the rain looking to confront some black kid because "they're always getting away with this"?

A firearm is a great responsibility. All I suggest is we take it seriously. And yes, I agree if someone forces you into a situation you have to defend your self you are able, and I think morally required to defend yourself and others. I really don't like whimps. But I also don't like John Wayne or Chuck Bronson movie heros acting tough and getting someone killed.
If someone decides to force me into a situation that I wasn't expecting, then they need to be the one who should have carefully considered their position and intent.

As he should have been. I am just trying to make the point deadly force is very very nuanced and if you are going to be a responsible gun owner you really need to think it through. Of course a kid banging your head on the sidewalk could be a very appropriate use of deadly force, but certainly not always. It matters how you got there.

Okay, so the perps jump you and start beating you MMA style, now what do you do?

You've beaten him down, he already called you "liberal", he's done. It's all memes, gifs and nonsense from here on in.

Corporate for profit prisons with corporate for profit convict labor leasing will only promote more of this stuff.

Thar the fat dough pussy boy blows!!

But there has been no proof that his intent was to "confront some black kid", so you're analogy is incorrect.

I thought you understood for a second with the first sentence. With the scenario I was implying the bad guy would use force to take your Rolex and cash.

Which is kinda the point. If I was driving to work and my damn prius broke down, my cell phone is dead and I tuck the 100 down in my shirt, while I am walking to the pay phone (if there is still such a thing) someone tries to take my stuff and elevates it when I tell him to beat it with some sort of force or deadly weapon, fire away, if you have no other recourse. This is really a very interesting topic we should all carefully consider before we carry a firearm in public, or even have one at home.

I think you are still struggling to find a point in your bloviating. What is it?
