Again, prior to actually going there or sending a probe, it was impossible to disprove the belief that the Moon was made of green cheese. As unlikely as it was that it was made of cheese, there was no evidence either way. Ergo, it was silly to claim that it was or wasn't.

Assuming the prayer was made out loud. Fact is saying prayers don't get answered by God is a claim the person making the claim can't support. It's fascinating that atheists demand the rules apply in only one direction.

Regardless, in any scenario where there are no facts, such as the existence of space aliens or an existence beyond the mortal one, the most logical position is "I don't know", not "Yes there is" or "No there isn't". 'Murica is the flip-side of Bible Thumpers.
