Federal takeover overdue

You're on the safe side of the Olympic mountains.

We get some wild wind sometimes....I was losing my 20 year old builder quality (low) shingles. I now have architectural grade, which should last 40 years, a lot more than I will.

You got a vegetable garden started?

Hmm..just been messing around.

We have corn, peppers, hot peppers, parsley, garlic, Romaine maybe or not, Brussels Sprouts, parsley, what else...

Rosemary..bah..sweet potatoes, pineapples if the critters don't get 1st, grapes (doubtful), something else too..Oh! Cantaloupe.

That's not even a dedicated garden..that's messing around. The peppers are good.
There's some peanuts, too. Eh. Probably not a good variety.

Just messing around. It isn't Victory Garden or Amish family garden time yet, I got a bunch of seed, though.

Probably mostly non-GMO seed, too.

That's a lot. I stick with mostly root vegetables and herbs.

HR-1 is a dirty trick that allows donors to give 1000 X more than they do now. I'm talking about the the 15th amendment which states “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States, or by any State, on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”

HR 1 doesn't change any of that, nor does any of the voting laws red states have passed or are considering.

What's wrong with HR 1 is it imposes conditions on elections that are highly questionable and potentially open them up for voter fraud.

I actually agree but I don't see how the R's and D's could possible agree on how it should be done.
There should be some sort of standardization for nationwide elections.
A good start is to get rid of mail in ballots and only count votes done at polls or absentee ballots that have been properly applied for.
Of course right there D's will call that "voter suppression".

'Voter suppression' refers to the laws that make your suggestion above impossible. Your premise is backward. The protocols you call for are being done as a form of voter suppression, when coupled with the aforementioned laws.

Then what do you call removing all checks on who's casting a ballot in an election?

Stop the poison pills in HR 1

Inflate the amount of money national party committees can give to candidates from $5000 to $100 million, an astonishing increase of 1999900% that would give party bosses virtually unlimited power to flood elections with big money.

Stop nitpicking, by using Right Wing talking points. So tell us...when did Georgia lie? When they recounted twice and found no errors, or when they rammed through massive voter suppression tactics?

:thumbsup:OK. As far as I know it's quite easy to register. Many don't want to be automatically registered because they just don't want to be registered. E.g., to avoid jury duty.

New laws make it very hard to 'qualify' for absentee, or mail in ballots.

That's voter suppression

Since OJ got away with murder, there is no way to avoid getting a summons for jury duty. They use every method available to find you.

That would be like saying 'I don't drive in order to avoid jury duty'.

Once summoned, getting out of serving isn't hard.

A federal takeover of elections is not only a good idea, but an absolute imperative given the voter suppression efforts in the backwater red states.

I can't imagine why any sane person would object.

Frankly, I don't believe that many of them do.

I have yet to see a single Reichwinger -- either here or elsewhere on the Internet -- speak out against the blatant voter suppression laws that (R)-dominated states are frantically passing. Instead, they dutifully repeat the debunked "voter fraud" mantra like good little puppets. It's fascinating to discover that voter fraud is only suspected in elections where the (R) candidate lost to the (D) one.

Probably best if you actually read your links before posting:

The Elections Clause is the primary source of constitutional authority to regulate elections for the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. The Clause directs and empowers states to determine the “Times, Places, and Manner” of congressional elections, subject to Congress’s authority to “make or alter” state regulations.

Voter fraud is rare. In the last election, trump benefitted from the few incidences.

Ironically, that's the only place we found recounts as well.
