Especially if you fly to Thailand...Think of all the hoes you could rent with $500K.

Some of them are not women .... ask Tommy Pendergast.
She had some pretty forward ideas for her times. Not all, but many relating to women's issues. For example, she had stories like women who worked for a living and supported their husbands, who did little more than play golf. And a lot of her female heroines and villains were smarter than the men in their lives.
"The foolishness of women in relinquishing their position of privilege obtained after many centuries of civilization. Primitive women toil incessantly. We seem determined to return to that state voluntarily.”
~ Dame Agatha Christie, 15th September 1890 – 12th January 1976

Yeah, I got it. But she was being ironic, given that she gave up her own privileged position to toil incessantly. Not sure you understand her quote...

Unfortunately Grok doesn't know squat about her and tries to form an opinion based on GIGO. Christie wrote close to 100 mysteries, novels, plays and short stories over her lifetime, and it wasn't because of feminism. Clues to Christie's thinking are in her books and also her autobiography. Maybe Grok needs to read them all, as I did.Is that so?
Christie refers to a time when, in many Western societies women had roles that were relatively less physically demanding compared to men or women in less privileged positions. This "privilege" included not having to engage in hard labor, being supported by male family members, and in some cases, having leisure time for social or cultural activities.
- Relinquishing This Position: She suggests that with the advent of movements like women's suffrage and the push for gender equality, women were voluntarily giving up these privileges. This could be interpreted as a critique of women entering the workforce, taking on more responsibilities outside the home, or even the loss of certain societal protections and privileges that came with traditional gender roles.
- Primitive Women: By contrasting this with "primitive women," Christie was invoking an image of women from ages past where labor was more evenly distributed or where women had less societal protection or leisure.
- Return to Toil: Her mention of "toil incessantly" points to the idea that modern women, in seeking equality, would end up having to work.
- Voluntary Return: The phrase "voluntarily" indicates her view that this shift was not forced but chosen, driven by feminist movements. It suggests a critique of these movements, questioning whether the pursuit of equality might lead to a less advantageous position for women overall, or at least, in ways that were not fully anticipated.
Christie's perspective was conservative, questioning of the rapid changes in gender roles during her time.

Sure it does. Unfortunately Grok doesn't have a human mind.Cope. @Grok has resources you can only dream of, and draws upon them all, instantly. @Grok has spoken.
