First Transgender Athlete to Win D-1 Championship

How is it a mental illness if they know they're not the biological sex they identify as?
It's a psych condition. The illness presents in those who have a need to dominate sports with an unfair advantage.

As to "coddling" them, what do you propose to do with them if you are correct in your assessment? So far nothing worked except letting them be who they are. It's the same with gay conversion therapy.
The discussion is straying. Allowing men to compete against women in sports for fear of harming their psyche, is coddling.

Socially, who cares what they call themselves, or where they pee? Although, this guy likes waving his cock around in front of women in the locker room. He belongs in the men's bathroom in public if he can't control himself

I'd bet that transvestite (or whatever it is) wouldn't mess with her!

I could just imagine what those legs could do to you if you didn't "perform." :whoa:

Just because you say you are, doesn't make you. If someone claimed they were say a cat or dog and insisted on being treated as such, even going to get cosmetic surgery to look more like one, doesn't make them a cat or dog. Instead, it is very likely they have mental issues they need to deal with.

Well, while not the expert on this, a good start would be not encouraging their behavior in any way, shape, or form.

They shouldn't encourage that behavior in schools, especially elementary schools.

Absolutely. The suicide rate among transgenders is nearly 50%. That's far higher than in prisons, labor and concentration camps in dictatorships, or among any other group. That says there are other issues going on that these folks need desperately to resolve, and getting some cosmetic surgery isn't going to help with that.

Um dogs and cats are not humans. :palm:

And who are encouraging them? In fact it's usually the opposite. That is why two years of counseling is a requirement.

In this case it looks like he got away with it. NCAA rule specifically states that 1+ years of HRT treatment is required.

Curious what the women of the board think about this (and if it simply falls along partisan political lines). Lia Thomas is a transgender swimmer for Penn who just won the woman's championship. Do you have any issue with this? And is it possible to say 'I don't have issue with someone living their life as they choose but I don't think former men should compete against women in sports' or does it not work that way?

On this we agree....like it or not, men are biologically geared on the whole to be physically denser and stronger than women...especially athletes. It's just an unfair advantage that agenda driven wonks want everyone to ignore ... like they did with Rene Richards years ago. Pathetic.

Yes...but they changed recently to 3 years. I think it should also be judged on muscle mass as well.

They did? Well that's good to hear. And yes muscle mass is very important.

If the strength, muscle mass and hormones level are around the same as that of the opposite sex, I don't see any problem with it. And if the other athletes don't have a problem with it, then okay.

The problem is the high school level. Each state is different. In Ct., if a guy feels pretty one day, he can compete as a women.

I would argue that high school is the most important, as the girls are often vying for college scholarships.

I agree that that is wrong. It's akin to lightweight vs heavyweight. It isn't fair.

As to the scholarships, yes that is very important. I am pretty sure the colleges will be aware of the situation.

As has been mentioned in this thread, it's also akin to some athletes gaining an unfair advantage with steroid use.
