I used to have a neighbor who always let his dog shit in my yard and wouldn't clean it up. I asked him to, more than once, he refused. One day I saw him coming and went outside. Sure enough, dog starts to shit in my yard again and I didn't see his master holding any baggies or anything so I sprayed the dog with the hose mid-squat. The next day, same thing so I sprayed the dog and my neighbor with the hose. He started cleaning up after his dog after that.

My actions involved taking the dog shit to the owner of the dog. As I've said, the dog hasn't done it again not have I seen the dog being walked near my yard.

Absolutely. It included a picture of the dog doing the deed in order that no denial could be made. It included "information" as to what would happen should the owner let the dog shit in my yard again. It was very clear who left it. I could have said something when it was happening and although I didn't see the owner's face when the box was opened, it made more of a point that simply saying "don't let your dog do that again". It was proof that I was willing to do what I said I wrote I would do if it happened again.
