I WILL rant at Bush. And no - I'm not buying the new conservative talking point that "the war was the right thing to do - Bush just botched it." The war was NEVER the right thing to do; that's the point.

I love the scientific analysis you present with "containment does not solve the problem. It simply contains it until it blows up in your face." Real fact-based anaylsis, there. Fact is, after 12 years, Saddam was NOT EVEN A THREAT TO HIS IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORS. What about that don't you comprehend?

And where am I expressing the glowing faith in the UN that you keep talking about? Clearly, certain things worked over the years - whether it was the no fly zone, action by the US, aspects of the sanctions, et al. That doesn't mean I put my faith in the UN. However, facts are facts (which is why you avoid dealing with them): Saddam did not have WMD's, was not a threat to America, was contained & did not even represent a threat to his neighbors.

Yet, somehow, in Superfreak's world, unless we spend half a trillion, lose over 30,000 of our own fighting men & women to death & injury, create a staggering refugee problem, throw Iraq into chaos and civil war & actually help Al Qaida recruitment, we're just waiting until a problem "blows up in our face."

If you would bother to read, I said essentially the same thing. He was not an immediate threat. Do try to comprehend what you read before going off on your little tangents. Fact is, our presence on Saudi soil was also a recruiting tool for Al Queda. NOTE: I am NOT saying as much as the continued presence in Iraq has been.

Let me see... the equivalent would be.... in Lorax's world unless we let millions of Iraqis starve, let Saddam butcher, rape, murder millions of his citizens, steal billions of dollars from the oil-for-food program, blow up thousands of Israeli citizens by supporting known terrorists groups and provide a great example to the arab world that even an unarmed crackpot can piss all over the UN with no consequences.
