Yes, in games you can influence the outcome (e.g., poker and blackjack). It's about calculating odds and tactics.

In gambling, it's random chance (e.g., roulette and craps). These are the pathetic slot players.

I've never done either (in a casino), just the occasional nickel / dime poker and beer night, which is really just an excuse for beer. But the idea of going to a casino for the specific idea of gaming and gambling, I don't get.

call me whatever you want, but I walk away with a $3 dollar drink.

Gambling is pretty boring stuff to me too.

I can do a little bit but am too much of a tightwad to have fun. Now if the money was given to me and I HAD to use it on the machines it would be a little funner than using my own dough though. Im a good person to live in Vegas. Its not a temptation for me. Lots of people who live here spend alot of tehir spare cash that way. I used to rent a room at the swanky hotels to use the sweet pools for a couple of days and take a few kids with me. You could rent a room Check in go down to the pool for the day with the kids. Go eat a nice dinner with the kids then go to the room for a slumber party for the kids and then hit the pool again before you checked out. I could sip beers or whatever as much as I wanted and not worry about having to drive the kids anywhere. Some of the big ones have pools that compare to water parks. The mandalay bay has a floating river, slides, waterfalls and huge beautiful beach entry pools that feel like you are on a tropical island.

Now that is a hell fo alot better than spending your day sitting next to drunk tourists in a casino floor.

that sounds sweet desh. ill have to check that hotel out next time

I think the night we met up with you I lost all of $20. That was enough for me.

Sweet , what is there pool like?

I was at a professional conference a while back. One of the big vendors sponsored a Casino night. I ate a lot of fine roast beast and drank some EXCELLENT red wine, but I gave away the chips the sponsor gave me.

Is anyone else like me in this regard? I simply do not enjoy gaming or gambling. I could see a certain attraction in gaming (Poker, BlackjacK) where your skill can influence the outcome, but what is it about gambling, where the outcome is determined by a random event, that attracts people?

I just plain don't get it.

I liked roulette for about a day, Until I lost. Plus I have gamblers in my family. It's worse that drugs. way more expensive and very addictive. I hate working so much I can't stand to lose money gambling.

I went out with someone I suspect had a gambling problem. He was only a personal trainer, but put hundreds of dollars on football games. I thought it was the most retarded thing ever. We went out like 3 times.

had to get to the 'third date' tho huh.

My mother is a big vegas gambler so I get lots of trips out of her. Watching her on the slots is the best medicine for any type of gambling addiction. She will sit at the champagne slots in Paris for 2 days straight and put every jackpot she hits right back in. My purpose there is to take money she wins and put it in the room safe so she doesn't use it...but oh those 4am calls begging for the money back REALLY do suck. She gave me $500 once to go play the $1 slots and it was gone in 20 minutes. I haven't touched a slot machine since. I learned early on that any money she felt like giving me to gamble was much better off in my pocket.
