Once we do what we must to clean up the world, will it then be worth living in it?
I think it's absurd to say that the progress of humanity has not severely damaged the planet.
It very clearly has.
But once humanity achieved dominance in the Animal Kingdom, wasn't this inevitable?
It's probably part of the Earth's destined cycle.
Humans begin at some point to dominate until they dirty the planet sufficiently to exterminate themselves.
Then slowly, the planet begins to recover.
Meanwhile, is it even possible for humans evolved to the state where we are now
to have any kind of tolerable life living in a more environmentally preserving way
than the way we live now? Maximizing one's comfort and convenience is genetically programmed into modern humans
and we're going to live in a way that reflects that regardless of what end result that will bring.
The liberals are definitely right that we're destroying the inhabitability of the planet,
but isn't it presumptuous to believe that we have a choice?
Could you live like a devout preservationist, and even if you could, would you want to?
